urgh talk about the last eps. tbh i wished this just ended at 30 eps max. I'd be happy if they ended it where Chancellor Xu and HRF got punished then cut off to the marriage scene. But nooo they just had to create all that drama with the 2nd ML and the emperor. When will the scriptwriters learn that not all historical cdramas need a stupid emperor who is easily influenced by his ministers, and a 2nd ML who does not know when to stop??

I really loved this drama at first but the last few eps just dragged on. If it weren't for Cheng Lei's face and the beautiful marriage outfits I've seen from the leaks, I would drop it from ep 31 already

right?? i feel like in terms of characterization, novel HRF was better. i would have liked to have all those nice characters from the novel (HY's dad in the 2nd life too) but censorship changes and maybe some other constraints make it impossible. heck i even want her ex-husband just for the drama hahahahhaha

ML's face is the plot. His face is really made for these kinds of dramas. I can't wait to see him in How Dare You. He would eat that role up

i know that, i read the novel too. i was just saying, given her experiences, she should have had some "intuition" even tho she's not good in court matters. but in the drama, i find that it took her a long time to figure out that something is wrong with her death and all.

novel HY was a bit smarter than the drama

not just in the novel, even through the flashbacks in the drama, it showed how little talent she had in academics

still, i see the court as another battlefield she had to fight so i even if she's not that adept in it, it's hard for me to understand how she is so clueless about the schemes. her battle prowess and experience (especially her near-death ones) should have given her some feelings of bad omen or some gutfeel

also, i think in the drama, they showed that she somehow got a bit better at studying (thus being able to recite and master the art of war well). that must mean that her experiences and hardwork through the years have some effect and she got a bit better at studying lmao

anyhow, you make a point. i'm just saying my personal feelings, nothing backed by science or real events, just delusion hahahhahha i'm not expecting her to be super smart, just not super stupid, too. i want her to be a strong FL, not an OP one :((

Right? She might not be eloquent in harem matters, but in a lot of episodes, she does speak well. She's not stupid that's why I can't quite accept how she suddenly becomes stupid when it comes to the scheme surrounding her own death. She should have realized it all already, it took such a long time for her to put things together??? It was all so obvious plsssss

And her identity reveal in the novel is a bit different but even there, she didn't take the initiative. I know her novel situation is a bit more unbelievable but she could have at least tried talking to ML and coming out?? It's not like her "straightforward" character to not take the initiative like that

i'm catching up on the episodes and it still astounds me how FL can be so smart in battle strategies but so stupid in court schemes??? it's the same issue i have with the novel. it just doesn't add up to me. court drama might be a bit different than the battlefield, but she can't have been this clueless???

i think i'm fine bc i've grown accustomed to adaptations doing this lol. i used to expect adaptations to follow the novel plot but i've always been disappointed so now I learned to just think they are "loosely inspired" by the novel and that helps me perceive the drama better haha

personally, i think this is one of the better novel adaptations out there. i'm not mad about the changes from the novel (surprisingly), but sometimes i wish they kept the comedic small misunderstandings about her like shen han thinking she has a past with XJ hahahhahhahahhahha
