It's not where's Waldo but where's the child? Skipfest

A former university beauty divorces her husband after he has an affair and finds out that he's taken custody of their child. As if it didn't get any worse, she crashes her car into a second generation rich CEO and has to pay compensation for his car while already being financially unstable. In trying to negotiate a price for the compensation, she finds out that he's seeking out a personal assistant who's willing to sell their soul for a job. As she previously devoted her life to her family, the possibility of finding a job with good pay to fight for custody for her child is obviously low. She uses her ability to read situations, ingenuity and hardworking-ness to appease/convince the CEO to hire her. It's the quirkiness thing again.

She doesn't seem to be stressed about the fact that her child is not with her and does not seem to try and contact him throughout most of the drama or at least the parts I was willing to watch. The child only seems to appear in the last few episodes.

Also the inappropriate work relationship? Who randomly kisses their girlfriend in a professional, working setting where they meet with clients sort of... It also ends on some sort of weird standing where the child doesn't seem to be much of a priority.

Put this in the background while you cook

I forced myself to sit through the first three episodes for the plot. I'm assuming that the overacting was either a stylistic choice in comedy or the actors being inexperienced during the production of this show (subsequent works of some of the main leads are very enjoyable). After the first three episodes, you get a feel of how the rest of the drama will be and it becomes somewhat decent.

Either way, some of the scenes are so nonsensical that I guess it becomes a form of comedy. The first main plot line was enjoyable but I had no capacity to watch through the second plot line entirely. I had to skip through the episodes as it was much to draggy to be enjoyable.

Anyhow, if you are looking for something to put in the background, without it staying on your mind, I recommend this mind-numbing drama. It's still fun, just don't expect too much.

Recommended for people interested in the media industry

I love it. It shines a new light on things I haven't seen and exposed me to perspectives I would have never thought of.

I was putting it off as I was worried that it would be another not-my-style but high rated drama. I loved that they explained some marketing/advertising concepts within the drama as well. The different uncompromising views that the characters take complement their choices to still listen to each other even when they disagree. I highly recommend it. I myself would be going back for another watch to pick up on the smaller nuances I might have missed.

Do make sure that you watch it when you're entirely free though, I couldn't turn my eyes away from the screen!

A bit too draggy for my liking

The story overall is rather interesting other than the fact that I'm really bothered that the fathers/husbands got little repercussions for being the main catalyst (other than ML's father) of the "pain" in the story. The FL does have her flaws as all characters do : constantly criticizing the ML's character but allowing her mother and sister to bully her? Her character seems confusing, although it seems rather heartwarming that she's willing to forget the past and forgive her sister. There is some character growth when she finally stands up for herself , tells her sister off and fights for her happiness. The ML also sometimes does some questionable things that borderline on uncomfortable for me to watch. Many times, in trying to help her, he inadvertently causes more pain to be brought upon her. Oopsie much.

If I could rate the pace, I would. 5/10 maybe? There are some parts in certain episodes where I wonder to myself if they are really necessary and made me want to drop the drama because it was so draggy. The ending kind of makes it redeemable showing everything happy and the antagonists are like "forgive me, I have done wrong "and do a complete 180 and the random pairing of characters because why not?

All in all, this drama does have some fluffy moments and the revenge bits are rather satisfying to watch as the main antagonist is 2-dimensional enough that you can hate her without feeling any form of sympathy/empathy for her. Kudos to the fluff, not so much to the pacing.

I'm confused. *SPOILERS AHEAD*

I began watching this drama as the premise was promising and the earlier episodes seemed to have a good flow but towards the end I was quite disappointed by the lack of proper storytelling. Some episodes/scenes seemed to be pure fillers and while I enjoyed seeing multiple pairings at the end, the ending just seemed too unrealistic.

What I liked:
1. The casting (especially for the FL)
If the actress for Shen Jin were to be played by anyone else, I think I wouldn't have been able to complete the drama. She manages to pull off the character very well that her rash decisions still make her character humane and not purely annoying.
2. The wholesomeness of the MCs
Albeit not very realistic, I found the bonds between all the characters (especially during ancient times) to be quite pure. I especially like the way the king was written in the end where he wouldn't like to sacrifice his children to be birds in a golden cage.
3. The fluff between the couples
Honestly, seeing the relationship grow between the character pairings especially ML & FL where their personalities become influenced for the better by each other is just delightful. I especially liked the fact where they made the ML cried, I have watched too many dramas where the ML is just totally unemotional. Men cry too. Also like the fact that the 母妃 of the FL is the head of the family, it gives for some rather comical scenes where the FL's father just shies away from politicking and pushes his wife to speak instead.

What made me confused:
1. There were absolutely no repercussions against FL's sisters and they seemed to have a total personality flip in the last episode where they suddenly became "good/civil" characters. Maybe they cut out that part as it was not important but the total personality flip just seemed too absurd to the point where they seem like different people.
2. The background of Ruonan
Her background is just confusing, although that might be a fault on my part where I just skipped through some parts as they just seemed too draggy. I don't get how they she just appeared out of nowhere on a cliff where the ML's brother also appeared? It wasn't too well explained (although, that could also be my fault of being not willing to watch at 1.0 speed).

Forgot out of 10

The premise was good, the series started out strong and everything was good until the constant amnesia came along. It became a bit of a pain to watch. The FL was a very well-written character in my opinion as she had a strong moral sense and was a strong character in general. The characters and the fluff are the things that save the drama from the abyss of Cliche Town.

All in all, if this series went in another direction halfway through, I think it would be of higher value. The amnesia was just ridiculous to be honest, just watch for the fluff.
