Yeah, in episode 14, his tail is beginning to show. Look at his expressions when he asks Zhuang Han Yan to pay…
Killing his own father allows him to be the head of household. That's a big deal. As head of household, he has all the control. He could dictate which house to live in etc. To kill FL, is to control his wife, Ruan Xi Wen. To save her daughter, she agrees to have her legs maimed, never to walk again, and to have her daughter sent away, at least she's alive. This is to separate her from her daughter so that she is all alone, no one could help her. Also, with Zhuang Han Yan "captive" in a place only he could access to, Ruan Xi Wen is under his mercy. She can't simply do anything against him even if she wants to because he's holding her daughter to threaten her.

It's very likely that he's the one behind all the killings: killing of Ruan Xi Wen's family, killing of his own father, attempted killing of Zhuang Han Yan, maiming Ruan Xi Wen, killing of his oldest daughter (Fu Yun Xi's wife), killing of Fu Yun Xi's father etc etc. There could be more killings we don't know yet. He's a monster.
Is this some weird enemy to lover trope or what? I'm kinda liking it way more than I should hah
They are never enemies though she's tried to kill him to silence him, and he keeps twisting her arms to extort info from her. They respect each other, at the same time, they have their loved ones to protect while seeking the truth. I think after episode 14, they are going to work together. So the up coming wedding could be a marriage of convenience, for now at least. We are already seeing the sparks flying everywhere. So whether it's for convenience, it's more like an excuse as both are too proud to admit they have fallen for each other š
same the moment I knew her family was killed like whole family and her fiance suddenly leave i knew it was her…
The concubine and her half siblings are just a distraction. The siblings are annoying but they are not the real villains. Their mother are more vicious but she's the knife, not the person holding the knife.
forget what I said about the momsy cause ep 14(I mean it still stands during those episodes after this one....…
What I understand is totally different from yours on the same scenes, not saying you're wrong. All she wants is a home, her home, not a home given by someone else with no blood relationship. She wants to understand why her mom behaves like this and keeps chasing her out. She's got the answer. She knows her mom loves her and tries to protect her. She doesn't want to lose her mom just like that without spending much quality time with her. She has been yearning for her mother for 17 years. That's enough for her to help her mom back. On the other hand, she isn't so sure about the father, but for a second, she thought her father still concerns for her when he told her that he was the one making her favorite mung bean cake and sent it to her in the south. But then, various evidence shows her that her father is not what he seems to be. For a starter, he let his concubine do her and her mother harm. Then of course she finds out that he could be the person behind his own father's death. Putting all these together, it's hard to want her to be her father's daughter because there's too much coincidence pointing a finger at him, all negatively, and she doesn't know him at all in the first place. Clever as she is, she knows she can't trust what others want her to see. I don't know about you, but daughter and mother have unspoken link than daughter and father.
One of the best well done actually enemies to lovers
I don't feel they are enemies at all. She tries to kill him because she wants to survive. He twists her arm to try to squeeze info from her. They don't hate each other, rather, they respect each other.
father is so scary, the most confusing character I have ever seen in drama. He totally looks like a good guy
Yeah, in episode 14, his tail is beginning to show. Look at his expressions when he asks Zhuang Han Yan to pay tributes to the ancestors. These are the most dangerous characters.
For me, I don't care much about the romance nor if they get married. I like the scheming part and both the lead…
If there's a wedding at this early stage, to me, it's more like a marriage of convenience which I don't really care about. Let's just get more pumpkin seeds to eat and continue watching š
Wait till she finds out her husband killed their oldest daughter .... just my theory.
So far, it is implied that the death of the Zhuang patriach (Zhuang Shi Yang's father) is linked to him. Likely that his first daughter's death is also linked to him. Ruan Xi Wen's father's and whole family's deaths look more and more likely linking to him. Fu Yun Xi's father's death also may link back to him. Boy! If all these deaths are his doing, he's a serial killer!
