Sorry but saying she is dumb is an insult to dumb people. Just few examples - She gets attacked, almost dies and…
Hahaha! I love how you put it - so succinctly!
Yep, Chinese dramas have the tendency to make female look like a dumb beauty. I hate that because it's so degrading. Even in the rare event when they make her a hero in the beginning, the ending always goes back to a passive wife for the strong ML. I wish they have a drama that shows a badass FL throughout XD.
Despite all the flaws in editing in The Legend of Fu Yao, I love that drama, but too bad, at the end, the badass FL becomes just like another pussy cat, purring meekly to her man X|
A Girl Like Me has a badass FL and she stays rather strong throughout. Let me know if you come across any other good badass FL throughout. Of course, badassness has to come with intelligence XD

Yep! Just don't use your brain while watching this. That's why the low rating, especially on Douban at only 4.1. I'm enjoying it though because I don't want to go crazy and waste my brain cells trying to figure out why has the script writer/author written such a thing etc. Too much happening in the world that has made us all dumb XD
Is the relatively low rating because it's a light comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously, or because of…
I believe some of reasons perhaps include, viewers feel:
- Xu Kai Cheng's acting is lacking and he is not suitable for historical dramas - Zhao Lusi has been playing the same type of cute, silly, brainless characters over and over - the lack of attention to details by the production team (viewers can spot production team members in the scenes, etc).
Other reasons may also include some fans of a YouTuber being influenced by her low rating of the drama. Whatever reasons they may be, I'm rather enjoying this light-hearted series, and I feel Zhao Lusi's acting good, natural and spontaneous here. Having said that, I don't quite like many of the tropes and cliches. But what can viewers do? All Chinese dramas are tropey and cliche anyway.
Such a fun and sweet series. (Am only up to 12 so far).Am gonna have to pay closer attention to my blood sugar…
Yes, at first I wanted to drop this drama at episode 1. But I was like holding a lollipop that I couldn't throw away because it's too sweet and cute :D I'm enjoying it so much now.
I actually find him to be the most pitiful, and quite frankly, unnecessary character of them all. The writers…
What you said about Ning Yun Zhao is so true :D But I actually quite like how they develop the character, from a scholastic nerd, to a person who can love magnanimously despite he's been rejected again and again, he doesn't throw stones into the well but can sacrifice himself to help, despite having such obnoxious mother and sister, he still comes up to be so fine a person. He makes a distinction between himself and Zhu Zan who is much more silly and less sophisticated. I love both these characters. Had it not been Zhu Zan is Jiuling's true love from the beginning, I would have found it difficult to choose between these two fine men XD

Oh no, Ning Yun Zhao is not useless. He's doing a lot, behind the scene stuff. I like this character so much because he's going to rid the royal court of all the corruption and despicable ministers. He's standing straight just like his uncle does. These are the people we need for a good government :)
AvenueX words are not the bible, she always has something to say for my favorites dramas lol
Yes, she always has something to say about my favorite dramas too, and I don't like the dramas she recommends highly anyway. So I conclude we have very different views and tastes. She can say whatever she wants but her views do not influence me :)
There seems to be a hate it or love it with this drama. For me, I'm all about escapism. After working all day…
Exactly! We all need some escapes once in a while, and this drama gives us that reprieve so that we can forget the reality of life, even just for a moment :D
I like Xu Kaicheng and his character. He tries to be serious but he can't. With Zhao Lusi around, who can? XD The conversations are comedic. Though not totally unique and similar to Zhao Lusi's other rom-com, this drama is entertaining if you want something to give you a good mood and something to laugh about. Don't be too critical and don't take it too seriously. It's not meant to be serious :) Acting wise, both main leads are good. The supporting is good too (super hilarious).
Just watched 2 episodes. It's watchable. Zhao Lusi is still the "Sha Bai Tian" (Silly, Fair and Sweet) Zhao Lusi, but this time, she's also brave, smart and chivalrous. Love her character and love the ML. Great watch!
