I loved this episode. Come at me! This show is about damaged people who have no idea how to find love because they've never experienced it before and they are messily stumbling toward healing. Yeah it has romcom elements but it's not a romcom, it's a subversion of romcoms.

The show was telegraphing that like whoa with the wedding conversation about why the manager hasn't been dating and also how he ignored the woman trying to flirt with him.

In the first half she doesn't care for the 2ML at all. The show goes out of its way from the very first episode to show you that she's in love with the ML. It's not really a triangle at all except in the 2MLs mind. The real issue is that the leads are both traumatized and caring so much baggage from their upbringings that they are struggling to get together.

This is very much not your average romcom. If it was you wouldn't have so many pissed off Park Min Young fans dragging this show for not serving up fluffy feels. I think the show has a lot of flaws but it's quite obviously subverting romcom tropes to tell a different story and that's what makes it so compelling.

It's one of the many many things that makes this drama so strange, you know from the first episode that the FL is in love with the ML and there is no triangle, just the writers messing with our expectations around triangles

I think he's desperate to escape from his family and he's latched on to her because she managed to get out and he admires her for it and hopes that she's a way for him to do the same thing. That's why he's ignoring her lack of interest. I feel really sorry for him even though some of his behavior has been shady, especially after what we saw of his problems in episode 8.

I wouldn't describe her as perfect, not at all. Emotionally she's a basket case and behind the beautiful facade her life is a disaster. She's pretty obviously traumatized by the way she grew up.

Two of my podcast partners laughed at me for crushing on him in LiC 😭 but he's so great in the role and he's in phenomenal shape at the moment.

Yeah, I don't mind a good chaebol story but right now that plot line feels too disconnected from the main romance.

I love this show but ep 8 was the first episode I disliked because I couldn't believe they had that whole conversation at the end of ep 7 about him pretending to be comfortable because he was afraid she wouldn't come to his apartment anymore and yet they never got together in ep 8. Also the story got super makjang right at the end. I did like getting more of Hae Jin's back story and finally seeing Gwangnam become his bodyguard but mostly I was like 😩😩😩😩😩😩

It's a very strange drama in a good way if you're into that kind of thing. If you go in expecting a frothy romcom, this ain't it. It's weirdly dark with complex characters and some laugh out loud funny moments but also a lot of deeply sad moments as well. This drama is super polarizing and some people hate it but if you appreciate a kind of bent sensibility and unconventional plotting, you will love this.
