This is a fantasy story about souls and it was always highlighted that how much he loved her soul. So it is really the answer that his soul remembered and noticed her soul. That is why he can't push her away anymore. That is why he couldn't cry when he was standing where she jumped to her death but he only cried in front of "Jin Buyeon".
