To be honest, I don't think it was the character's fault. The writers just forgot he wasn't that supporting.

To me, the title implies two things at the same time. First, canonically, Uk means "Light" and Yeong means "Shadow".

Both of them are each other's light and shadow. Uk was Yeong's light in her darkness, and now Yeong becomes light in Uk's darkness. And when she regains her memories, they will keep that balance until the end.
