I don't think that's the issue, most actors have the same issues e.g. Billing fights e.g. Zhang Linghe and TXW, screaming vulgarities at their costar e.g. Rosy Zhao & Wu Lei, or even last minute role changes e.g. He Shiyu quit Genius Girlfriend after Yuzheng accused her of stealing the role from Zhao Jiamin using illicit methods (he's implying she slept with someone).
Li Meng is getting regular work as a 黄金配角 and she's aware her visuals don't suit Mary Sue roles, but it doesn't matter since she gets a lot of good roles and dramas e.g. The Bad Kids.
I think she's great too and should have lead roles instead of being typecast but that doesn't mean she's better…
In China at least Li Meng's acting gets widely praised, she started in films as well and has participated in foreign film festivals so she is well regarded in the industry.
IMO Tan Songyun isn't a famous child actor, i think she started acting in her teens and her claim to fame is basically looking impossibly young and childlike such that she plays teenagers in her 30s but it doesn't mean she's a good actor (I liked Go Ahead!), it just means she fulfils that Cdrama requirement of wanting 30 year olds actresses to act as teens or innocent young FLs who undergo growth arcs e.g. Yang Mi,Zhao Liying, Cecilia Liu, Yang Zi etc etc have all done roles that portray the FL from age 15 to 30 even if it takes some suspension of belief? Lol. Li Meng can't do such roles obviously, because she lacks an innocent Mary Sue face and looks more cunning.
Anyway Tan Songyun is almost 40 so at some point she'll need to portray age appropriate roles lol, it's hard to imagine her as a mother but yea it's going to be weird if you're still doing such roles at 40.

It's ruined bc Li Jinqi gets suspicious that she's not truly Lan Xiang but Shen Jialan his past fiance because she knows how to read and has odd reactions to events of the past and decides to ruin their marriage and force the FL to marry him instead.
Anyway the drama has changed many details e.g. Li Jinqi is an incorrigible playboy in the story but the drama changed it, the drama also shows Li Jinqi as the person who buried the Shen family i.e. he is shown as someone who empathises with his former fiance from the start and wants to help the Shen family.
Sorry but after Li Meng's role became peripheral the acting and plot isn't as interesting or dramatically tense.... honestly she deserves a lead FL role instead of the same cunning baddie 2FL roles she gets typecasted in (this is her 5th or 6th one? Even in The Bad Kids she played the mistress lmao). She's the same age as Tan Songyun and Liu Xueyi but i think her acting has more depth and gravitas than them e.g. TSY does that innocent wide-eyed glare a lot and feels very Mary Sue because the plot is setup to favour her. It's a pity we rarely see Li Meng helm a drama because she oft increases the quality of dramas helmed by others.

FYI HeiWa is an Easter Egg character that doesn't exist in the novel. Zhang HeiWa's name is a reference to a character from the 2017 drama White Deer Plain also named HeiWa (literally means Black Kid) played by Ji Ta who plays Huang ZhengJing the leader of the opera troupe in The Lead and uncle of Zhang Heiwa. White Deer Plain also starred Zhang Jiayi and Qin Hailu as the leads.
