Doubt Landy or Ao Ruipeng are suitable, both aren't a good fit. The FL is lovebrained although she's good at her work, she's described as tall with a hot figure. The ML doesn't confess til he's almost 40yo and is arrogant e.g. Liu Xueyi, Elvis Han? Sun Qian fitz the vibe, Peng Guanying is too old. They may change the story to be politically correct but it would alter the reason the novel is popular, i.e. FWBs becoming a real couple, the ML chasing after the FL after she quits and stops the FWB arrangement.

Zuer can't choose her costars so please be kind to them and the project (she's rumoured to be working with Dylan Wang for her next drama but it's unconfirmed), so please also understand she agreed to this drama bc the team approached her at her lowest pointand it's almost a favor to Tencent in return for them giving her more opportunities in future.
Iirc the director composed and wrote the lyrics to all the OST songs himself, he's multitalented and does the background music composition in his dramas e.g. Our Secret, Always Home, King's Avatar.
Re: Chen Xinhai, he's a Tencent prince aka 鹅太子 (heavily affliated to Tencent) so he's getting a push by them. This project was planned since 2024 but couldn't find a suitable FL, Song Zuer was offered and accepted the role before Demon Hunter's Romance & Prisoner of Beauty aired, i.e when she was still "frozen" and she was happy they still trusted her. Apparently she signed a partial affiliation agreement with Tencent so taking a new actor like Chen Xinhai under her wing and "digesting" this novel IP (the rights will expire so there is a limited amount of time to film) is her task before she's given her better roles. It's a 渡劫 aka she needs to do this project to pave her return to C-ent and get used to filming again after 2 years.

She needs the right type of role, this Older Sister Alpha Female Seductress role suits her 100% since she's tall and sexy irl, I can't think of many actors who could've portrayed Ye Meng similarly well without it being cringe (Dilreba maybe?) when the FL chases the younger ML. Yuxi makes it very believable that the younger ML would fall in love because she's got sex appeal in spades and doesn't look like a "goody 2 shoes" like most C-actresses.

I really hope Song Zuer doesn't act with Xukai because as mentioned, she's a well known child actor who doesn't need to get involved with actors whose fans aren't happy with her and want to cause trouble or bully her. She doesn't have an agency currently and is quietly filming her new drama, she barely posts online and doesn't have any endorsements. Zuer is seen as someone in acting for the long run; she's not limited to idol dramas and does 正剧 as well... It's silly to say she's trying to step on Xukai for fame, maybe other actresses but Zuer didn't start acting at 7 years old in 2005 for nothing, why would she need to use her costar's fame when she spent her childhood working in dramas and Xukai debuted much later in 2018?
