i have been through similar so i empathize with her.. no idea how she put up with him for so many years

No doubt, the chemistry is good, the writing is good, and the story genuinely raises an important question one that I often suggest discussing with my friends.

If someone tells you, “I love you,” ask them back, “Is love all you have to offer? What comes with the this LOVE package? respect, trust, transparency, understanding and responsibility? Aren’t those included too?”

People often assume that if someone loves you, they will automatically respect you, take responsibility for you, understand you, be transparent with you, and trust you. Why? Because we tend to believe that all of these things are part of the definition of love.

But they aren’t.

Pick up a dictionary and look at the definitions. Love means love. Respect, trust, understanding, transparency, and responsibility all have their own separate words and definitions. The definition of love does not automatically include all of these qualities.

We love our pets at home deeply, but that doesn’t mean we bring them into a family discussion or a business board meeting and ask for their opinion. Loving someone and having respect, trust, understanding, transparency, and responsibility in a relationship are different things.

Only watch the first 30 minutes episode 1 and already want to SLAP him in the face real hard!!!! He is an A**hole for sureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I don't care how he will change for the better but I'm not gonna spent 20+ hours just to watch an A**hole doing his thing! OMG! Just don't get why people love this SH*T!

It's pretty backward and stupid if people complain about nudity when It's an adaptation of a movie/ novel that requires bold scenes

Okay so don't watch shows with sex and nudity. Simple. I don't like gore so I don't watch it. I'm not going on to gore drama pages and arguing with people who like it about the existence of gore and how the drama would be better without it.

It's not that we're perverts; we just don't care if their's sex or nudity. It's not a big deal.

More than the cringy proposal, it's the fact that so many people want a Luke in their lives that had me squirm. Our standards have dropped so low that we are ok to be belittled, and groomed because the guy is hot and rich. SIGH.

I guess the intimacy was shown a lot more frequently (i mean almost every scene of theirs had a kiss) compared to other dramas so that's probably why.

I am listening to a podcast aout this drama by someone who also read the book. Oh the perilss of adaptation to a drama.

The host is saying how there was a lot of s** in the novel and how Flora had more personality. This podcaster(Elle and Juniper) is also saying how she did not feel the passion between the two. Neither did I. So there was nothing to make me understand why they were together. I had to imagine they were having hot s** . I wondered why an intimacy director was even needed.

Stiil the actor is very good and that is the only reason I am happy I watched until the end.

I couldn't agree more. No wonder modern day dating is so screwed. People are looking for passion, but ignore what it really takes to build a relationship - comfort, safety, companionship and trust.

And yes, WORD on the way he manipulated himself back into her life at the end. Just showing up, giving her no space, and then giving her a carrot (in the name of marriage) just like he's always done.. SIGH.

No hopes on the sequel either but I will check it out out of due to my curiousity.

There was a point when he forced himself into her house at the end that I was briefly worried for her safety.

His showing himself to her parents when she was trying to hide him was pure manipulation.

I am very puzzled about so many watchers romanticizing this drama. My thoughts are that they are young and inexperienced in relationships. It scares me that so many see this as acceptable. He is so typical of an abuser. Even in the final episodes one can see him wearing a manipulative facial expression. He is an excellent actor.

I agree with you that she has flaws(of course). I think there are many that do not appreciate the power differential and the effect it is having on her. This is why so many professional asociations censor such relationships.

We can only hope that the sequel might address his problems. I am not counting on it.

Exactly. I am not saying that she wasn't flawed. But if you look at the way she interacted with Lumi or her friends, you'd see that she was pretty normal and capable of sharing her feelings. If he had been encouraging and more supportive, she wouldn't retreat the way she did. Despite walking on thin ice due to the boss/employee and clear socioeconomic differences between the two of them, she did give him 6 years. And in the end, he still had the audacity to say that she was with him to climb the social ladder?! WTF. I get that he was angry but that doesn't give you the right to say certain things.

And in the last episode, what do we get? A declaration of love? Like seriously? No conversation whatsoever in reflecting about the past 6 years or lessons learnt? Did both of them even change?

Yeah the sequel will apparently be based on their married life HAHA

Also I just have to say this - I feel that the people romanticising this have never been in a real relationship.

Her friend killed himself and she felt some responsibility. Was she able to share that with him? Did he have any idea how devestating that would be? Some comments were about why would she be upset about this suicide because they were not lovers.???????? In so many ways the ML eroded any trust in the relationship yet many comments are about how she did not share with him. I say "No wonder". They did not have a relationship where they talked about their lives.

I see there is a sequel? Title something like Clear summer skies. Are you kidding me?

BAHAHAHA I actually agree with so much of this 😂😭 I was literally telling a friend that the comment section had me questioning my sanity because SO many people were saying “this is real life, the ML isn't a red flag, you just need to accept that relationships are messy” and I was like NOOOO GUYS. THAT IS NOT THE LESSON WE SHOULD BE TAKING FROM THIS. 😭😭😂

I actually gave this drama a pretty high score because I enjoyed it (mainly because it's fiction and my brain was chilling in another room while I was watching), but I came away with a lot of the same concerns you mentioned. 😂 I made it through some of the more frustrating parts largely thanks to JBR's face card, I’m not even going to lie 💀😂
