Title Shine (Orchestric Ver.) Spoiler
I think her character was the most divorced from reality. There are numerous accounts of women, even nowadays…
I think it's important to remind ourselves that people like Dhevi aren't living in times where they were properly educated about homosexuality. I came across a tweet but I can't find it now. It was written in Thai, and they mentioned women in that era saw great importance in having the perfect marriage, or something like that. And to them, this matters more than anything else. So Dhevi wasn't gonna let her "perfect" marriage be ruined. She was gonna keep going until she got what she wanted.

The actress for Dhevi also mentioned that people during those times saw homosexuality as a disease, and that's probably what Dhevi thought too. She thought Krailert was just "sick" and that she could "fix" him. She wasn't gonna let news get out about her husband being a gay and let herself live with public humiliation for the rest of her life.

I apologize if I misinterpreted your comment. And I totally agree that it hurt AF. I really hate how awful she turned out. But I also think it was smart to make her that way instead of being a weak little kitty, especially since she came from military family. I just hope she gets her karma like how Pracha got his.

At first I also thought Trinβ€˜s choice was very questionable, but the longer I thought about it, the more I agreed…
I get what you mean, and I suppose you might be right. At some point, I did feel like Trin was projecting too, and I guess that's his flaw that I'll have to accept even though I don't like it.

For 7 episodes, Trin has been quite an admirable person even though he had his flaws. But he puts his money where his mouth is. He stands by his principles. When he complained to Tanwa that Tanwa wasn't there for him when he's sad, we saw Tanwa putting in effort to earn his trust when Trin was having a hard time himself. So it's just disappointing that when it came to him showing up for Tanwa, he failed to do so. He just left without a word for 2 years. And if it wasn't for Moira sending him that book, he probably might not even have considered reaching out to Tanwa again.

Throughout those 2 years, it felt like he showed more concern for others than Tanwa. And I get his reaction after reading Tanwa's book, but it's also precisely that reason that's leaving a bad taste in me.

He cared about the others enough to want to know how they were doing. But we never saw him asking anyone about Tanwa. (I blame the writers for this because if only we were shown a bit more context behind why Trin acted so out of character, or that he was actually still struggling to heal from his own PTSD alone in Paris, then it'd have made more sense and it would've been easier for viewers to empathize.)

But from what we were shown, he only showed that he cared again AFTER reading that book. So to me, it feels like he DID stop caring for those 2 years. It felt like he's moved on from Tanwa already. And he only started caring again when he found out he was wrong about Tanwa. But if only we were shown how Trin got to actually make an effort (not just 3 phone calls) to fight for Tanwa in return, it wouldn't have felt so underwhelming.

I just think for 7 episodes, they've got the pacing for Trin and Tanwa right and their scenes together were my absolute favorite. They flirted, they communicated, they spent time listening and sharing and understanding each other. But in Ep8, we had none of that. No communication before or even after those 2 years, and instead they just wiped the slate clean and started over as if the problem didn't exist. So personally, their individual growth and happiness felt earned, but their happy ending together didn't. On the bright side, at least we can assume they talked about it and worked it out for the next 50 years they were together.

You're speaking as if all women are expected to be saints, and if they're not, it's the creator doing them dirty and the female character becomes a disappointment. But you don't see people saying the same when a MAN is being written as evil? I agree some evil female characters are written in a distasteful, disrespectful manner, but Dhevi's actions here make sense. It gives her character more depth. She's no pushover. She wants, she gets. She's ruthless, just like her father.

Yea, I hate what she did, but I like how she turned out to be just as bad, if not worse, than Pracha. I thought Pracha was scary, but compared to Dhevi, Pracha now looks like a joke. If we can have a despicable man like Pracha, why can't we have a wicked woman like Dhevi?

Dhevi is a real queen. Such an incredible woman. I'm not surprised Veera loved her so much. The only thing that…
Genuinely curious, did you miss the part where Dhevi confessed she deliberately put Krailert in that jam where his lover was killed and he was threatened to marry her though? Because while Krailert did make his choice to marry her, she also choose Krailert while she's fully aware of Win's existence. She put herself in that loveless marriage too.

I think she's cool for being ruthless like her father and brothers, but I really hate what she did. I did feel pity for her in the past, thinking she was cluelessly forced into this marriage by her father. But now I don't pity her anymore. Krailert has to suffer the consequences of his decision, and so did she. But since she's more powerful than Krailert, she's capable of getting her way in the end.

I would've somewhat agreed to this if the situation was different and it involved different characters. But imagine telling someone whose family had a history of suicide and know they could very well develop suicide tendencies as well to fight their own demons. And that someone is a person you once claimed to love. No matter what, it just doesn't sound right. Being there for Tanwa wouldn't be sugar-coating anything.

Trin could've done the very least to support Tanwa even for giving him 5 minutes to explain himself, then tell him they needed time apart to heal. If Trin could reconcile with Krailert again and even talk nicely to him, why doesn't Tanwa deserve the same chance? Instead, Trin acted as if Tanwa made the biggest mistake in the world for lying to him and he didn't have to apologize for punching Tanwa either, because his action was justified by his trauma from Claire's death?

If Tanwa was wrong for lying to Trin, then Trin's also just as wrong for punching Tanwa without knowing the full truth. They were both wrong, but Trin acted as if he was right and only Tanwa was wrong. I think that's the part that doesn't sit well with some of us.

Can't believe I was rooting for both Dhevi and Lert to get their respective happy endings only to find out Dhevi was actually the mind behind this hellhole of a marriage 🀯🀯

I think it's more childish to conflate "complexity" with "pointless misery". There were many complicated…
Just my humble opinion....Lert is no helpless pawn, and I don't think it's fair to judge him that way. He made a choice, and he owned up to it. What he had to go through was what many gay people ended up going through as well. It was actually quite realistic.

And him yielding to Dhevi's threat in the end was actually very in character for him. He wanted to keep Naran and Trin save, so he accept the consequences of his choice. Son described Lert as someone who's selfless, and I never saw why. But in this final episode, it became clear. Lert rarely put himself first. He didn't wanna disclose his relationship with Win to keep Win safe, albeit in vain. And now, he chose Naran and Trin's safety and happiness over his. He told Ran he'd do all he could to protect the ones he loves, and that's what he did.

Lert doesn't have to be a hero here to prove he isn't a coward. If he chose to stand up for himself and go against Dhevi in the end, putting Ran and Trin's lives in danger, that would actually be out of character and not really character growth.

For someone who didn't watch the finale why we should choke?? Just curious 😊
It turned out Victor actually believed Tanwa, and even told Tanwa not to tell Trin to keep him safe. So Tanwa's decision of not telling Trin and keeping Trin from going to the protest was also partly his promise to Victor. Victor chose that path himself, and it wasn't Tanwa who let him walk to his death like Trin assumed.

True. He deserves credit for finally seeing how he messed up in the past and choosing to make things right. I feel that when he showed up at Euphoria, the state of Tanwa was probably shocking enough, and Phadoem may have been ready to criticize Tanwa. But Tanwa calling out "Mom" must've hit him hard, and it just completely softened him.

Question, who was the old couple on the beach? I think I know who it is but I need confirmation.
You can see old Tanwa wearing the same silver bangle that young Tanwa was wearing when he visited Victor.

Title Shine (Orchestric Ver.) Spoiler
Omg, chills!!!! I remember mentioning how Moira represented omnipresence in the series, and she literally is!!!! She's got eyes everywhere!!!!! Aaahhh as if she wasn't amazing enough already.

But what Veera's friends did for him!!!!! 😭😭😭 And who would've ever thought....the person Lert wouldn't be able to run away from wasn't Pracha. Pracha would've killed him, but Dhevi kept him alive (but dead inside) and tortured him. 😐 Next to Dhevi and her brothers, Pracha looks like nothing now. Dhevi's the scary one. 😫

It totally breaks me that Lert's stuck with Dhevi forever. But one thing's for sure, Dhevi can never have what Naran hasβ€”Lert's heart. I do wonder if Dhevi would've ever cheated with Veera if he were alive, and still turned a blind eye on Lert's affair with Ran. But seeing how scary she actually is, I think she wouldn't let go of Lert either because she doesn't love Veera and he'd only be Lert's substitute to satisfy her loneliness. I think she'd definitely still force Lert to carry out his "husband duties" eventually. And Dhevi giving Pracha the same treatment he gave Veera!! Did not see that coming. I don't like Dhevi now, but damn she's ruthless and I love it when it's for Pracha but hate it when it's for Lert. Ugh. Let me go cry for LertRan first. 😒

And Trin....I mean, "This is something he has to face on his own." Really???? Really, Trin??? He does have to face it on his own, but it wouldn't hurt to be there for him for a second. Or at least hear him out? No? When you claim Tanwa's never there when you're sad, yet Tanwa's always the one going to you? And Trin is fully aware about Tanwa's mother's suicide, yet he wasn't worried at all that Tanwa could take the same path. I'm just baffled, honestly (and clearly angry too).

Tanwa doesn't deserve to be hurt like that. He was wrong for lying trying to keep Trin safe because he feared losing Trin as much as Trin fears losing Victor, if not more. And I sure as heck know it's so much more. I'm just so glad Tanwa had Sucha to watch over him, and made sure he's still breathing, even calling Phadoem over. Imagine, Phadoem, the one who's been abusing Tanwa, ends up being the one who shows up for his son and not Trin who stepped in to stop Phadoem from abusing Tanwa. Hilarious πŸ˜‘

To see Tanwa bursting into tears in the pool....that felt like a knife stab. And the luckiest person of all is Trin, because 3 men were trying to keep him safe that night. THREE. They all loved him so much and just wanted him to be safe. And even though I get he was hurting badly with trauma, what he did to Tanwa was seriously uncalled for. And I'm not talking about that punch anymore. It's the way Trin decided to ignore Tanwa's pain too. Sure, you can argue they both needed space to work on their issues. Trin chose to work on his own by himself, and he thinks Tanwa needs the same. While I agree with that, I just cannot support how it happened here. Trin could've talked to Tanwa first before actually packing up and leaving. Wasn't Trin all about confrontation? Truth is, Trin freaking chose to run away. "Choosing, in itself, is still better than not choosing at all." That's a jab to Tanwa's "Not choosing is also a choice."

Yeah, Trin. Just admit you chose to run away. So much for calling Tanwa out for running away all the time. And now Tanwa's the one who didn't run. He stayed, he worked through his trauma, he healed his own wounds (BY HIS EFFING SELF), he got back up on his feet, and he found his own happiness again. Pfft, who needs Trin for that, right? In the end, he even forgave himself and forgave Trin. Of course, because it's Tanwa. Tanwa forgives everybody, even his abusive dad. πŸ™„

And in the end, it was again Tanwa who went to Trin FIRST. I hope Trin made it up to Tanwa for the rest of their lives until they were old, and will continue to make it up to Tanwa until they die. I'm gonna be bitter forever with how Trin barely had to TRY to get Tanwa back. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I was so happy no one was picking up Trin's call, only to realize Tanwa probably went to him already, and I hated that I was right. I really wished Tanwa waited for Trin to come to him for once, but then that wouldn't be Tanwa, would it?

Honestly, what angers me even more is if Trin found out Tiva actually knew and still let the protest happen, he'd probably still forgive Tiva faster than he'd forgive Tanwa. Why? Because Tanwa's always the one people can take for granted. And I bet viewers would also forgive Tiva because he broke down and confessed to Victor's parents, but Tanwa haters still think Tanwa's the worst when that man had his world crashing down and was so ready to just let his life wither away when he was just trying to keep his loved one safe, as everyone would.

The pain Tanwa showed throughout this episode, and seeing how far he's come.... This is why it infuriates me and breaks my heart whenever people just hate on Tanwa so much. What even did Tanwa do to get hated on so much? The rest of themβ€”Trin, Krailert, Naran, Victor, were all given heroic moments, making people admire their courage to push forward. And then there's Tanwa, who ironically represents most people but gets hated on. Is it because people just hate seeing themselves in Tanwa? Is it because they wish to be like Trin, Victor or Naran? Or even Krailert, fighting for forbidden love?

Rage aside, there are things in Shine that I didn't like, but I still think Shine did a phenomenal job with everything. Production was topnotch, the entire cast hit it out of the park, and the music is just absolutely amazing. LertRan's ending was brutal, though expected, just in a different way. Maybe until they grew old, Dhevi might get fed up and just let Lert live the life he wants and he'll get to meet Ran again. 😒 But I honestly doubt Dhevi would yield. And I hate the idea of Ran being all alone until he's old, not knowing if he'll see Lert again. Ran deserves to move on and find his own happiness too. TrinTanwa's ending....well, it was sort of a happy one, but I'm not that happy about how we got there. LOL.

Anyway, this was a fun ride and it didn't disappoint. I hope Shine gets the appreciation and acknowledgement it deserves. From the creators, to the production, to the cast, to the music. Each aspect honestly deserves an award. Well done, Shine. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
