Yea, they're probably setting up Q as Jinman's next target to defeat since Bale is out of the picture now. Jinman wouldn't hesitate killing Bale, but it might be different for Q. That's probably what Jin was aiming for since she sensed some spark between Jinman and Q back then.
The question now is... Jin thought Q would hesitate to kill Jinman, so she put J as the leader. Now that her plan backfired, she plans to manipulate Q into killing Jinman for revenge. So, will Q fight Jinman until the end and die? Or will Q catch on that Jin lied to her and turn against Babylon and help Jinman?
I think if Q gets written off early, we might see Jin doing the dirty work herself and it might get interesting, but I doubt they'll waste a character like Q since they've already wasted one like J, which was a shame. I feel that Q catching on and turning against Babylon later seems more likely. Hopefully.
Q is a much better planner and leader than Jin, tbh. Or maybe when Jin used to work in the field, she was actually really good. But clearly, it doesn't show here. Q's more meticulous, has better intuition, and sees what Jin doesn't. Jin effed up the mission the last time 15 years ago and almost got J killed, but she didn't learn her lesson. I feel that Q might actually be colder than Jin thinks. It'd be really frustrating to watch if Q actually believed that Jinman killed J. I hope she's smarter than that.
As Korean actors themselves say, Korean audiences are the harshest. But seeing that East Palace was her first sageuk role, and being the lead on top of that, I think she did really well. I'm glad she's taking criticism with a healthy mindset and see it as a chance to hone her skills. She's only been acting a few years now but she's definitely got great potential. I'm sure when she plays her second sageuk role, she's gonna be nailing it even more.

It's not tied to the princess. It's tied to Gu Cheon because he made a deal with the gwi mae of the palace. So technically, he's now kind of like a half human, half spirit.

I got a little confused with that part too. I thought he got dragged into the well. But since he woke up with blood, I guessed that maybe he somehow managed to crawl his way out, and the dead court maid in the well was the next victim after he escaped.
Just completed the series and it truly didn't disappoint. First time seeing Cho Seung Woo act as king and I was really anticipating it. In the first episode, I wondered why they cast him as the king, but then it quickly shows how layered the king's character was and not many could pull that off. But Cho Seung Woo definitely can.
I think this really needs a second season because this was such a fun ride!!!! Loved everything from the plot to the pacing to the cinematography to the visuals of all the different gwi characters. I honestly want more of this and I can't wait to see what's next in their adventure.

After seeing Nam get his a$$ kicked by Jin Cheol, which was soooo satisfying!!! I had to pause halfway through Ep7 to make sure someone else's a$$ got beat up too or it'd be so frustrating to finish the rest of the episode. Came here to check the comments first and I'm so glad. Lol
Update: Okay, the beat up for Ju Gang Chan was satisfying but uggggghhhh I hate the end of Ep7. Are you seriously telling me they sent him back to the North!!! They're obviously gonna be using him for their own benefit again and you sent him back???? Seriously???? Seriously????

They sort of reunite at the end of Ep6, but I don't think their reunion would last for an episode based on the preview for Ep7. Lol. So I'm guessing their actual reunion might happen by the end of Ep9 or worse, Ep10. 🙃
Agent Kim made the dumbest thing in episode 5, the other guy already told him that his daughter is cold storage…
I want to agree with you, but Agent Kim was after the other guy who escaped in the car to find out where the cold storage was. He wasn't trying to kill him, yet. There were many containers there, the port was huge, and the office was far from the cold storage. It wouldn't have been easy to find. It's not like the big guy told Kim where exactly the cold storage was. That's why Kim went after the other guy and forced him to show him the way to the cold storage.
Difference in Agent Kim Reactivated @ 8.7 and Mercy For None @ 8.3 is the comedy.
I feel that it's probably because Agent Kim is more action comedy while MFN is noir action. A lot of people would prefer the former over the latter. I think that's what made more people rate it higher. Agent Kim is more of a light watch and probably more people can accept watching this since it's not as gory and serious as MFN.
Personally, I'd definitely rate MFN much higher because of action sequences and plot. Agent Kim's got some good action choreograhy, but nowhere near the ones in MFN. Not to mention, the story and pacing were much more solid compared to this. Agent Kim is getting slightly draggy now.
I need to watch the first one to understand the second one?
There's a prequel called Tang Dynasty Tour. I've never watched it so I'm not sure how the story relates to Whimsical Return. But I was told it's not necessary to watch the prequel before this because they are standalone stories.
