The FACT that people talked about goblin like one of the best drama ever and I sat through all of it cringing the entire time.... I don't mind the age gap, like, he's centuries old, she's always going to be a baby no matter how old she is. But she was a 19yo acting like a 15 YO the ENTIRE time, all I could see was an old dude falling for a child, that just didn't sit right in my mind!

"Nowadays even private companies allow paternity leaves as well so even men can look after the child" that's really the bare minimum but 2020 and it's still a fight for most countries. In the nothern part of europe the paternity leave can be up to 23 WEEKS LOL. They are so ahead I swear !

The fact that it was stuck at 7.9 seemed weird to me anyway. I think that's the correct ratings. Start-up is defo the kind of drama that people enjoy after a binge watch; I'm not really surprised by the ratings honestly

The thing is, it's a matter of tast and some people don't have any lol.
No but seriously, it is a matter of taste and some people enjoy things you can't bare to watch and absolutely hate what you enjoy.

That's why the ratings of a k-drama has no longer any influence in my decision to watch it. I started kdramas with the popular ones, the ones with the highest ratings and didn't enjoy them as much as the others did. I've only been into kdramas for a few month but I'm only starting NOW to find the type of kdramas I enjoy.
I know too well that most people watching k-dramas enjoy cheesy (teen) romcom and it's not necessarily my cup of tea. Take My ID is gangnam beauty for exemple. The worst korean production I've seen, it was sooooo bad, and yet look at the ratings.
IOTNBO was not a bad drama, but it was absolutely not the drama of the year for me and yet it's one of the highest rated drama here. There are dramas that are 100 times better but are not as popular because the genre of the drama is not as popular.

I trust american tv shows ratings because I feel like people have high expectations when it comes to american tv shows because they have more episodes, but for kdramas, as long as the mains are pretty/handsome and they end up together at the end of the 16th and last episode, people will be satisfied.

Like I said I've watched indian movies before but mostly historical ones. I do have a question if you don't mind. I've seen multiple times in movies women trying to bow to touch a man's feet before he stops her, I never understood the meaning of both their reactions.

They have a way of portraying the control that men want to have over "their" women as something "cute". It's annoying af! But from what I've read, South Korea is a very patriarchal society where misogyny is really really normalized. For exemple I hate it when a man takes the sole initiative to cover the thighs of a woman wearing a short outfit. It's not up to you to decide whether she should cover herself or not. If she's uncomfortable she'll do it herself. This paternalism that is seen as "cute" really annoys me. And it's not just the boyfriends like it's ANY men really. I see it sometimes in interviews.
But men love the position they have in south korea, and anything that will disturb the order of things for them is evil, look at how feminism is very badly seen in South Korea.

I wouldn't be able to say about the entire country but yeah in Paris and its region people always make sure be well dressed when they go out, even if it's to run and errand or something. It's funny because every french student who go in the US in an exchange program always come back saying the same thing "people in the US go to uni in their pyjamas ?? and they always wear sweat pants ??' ans it's so funny because american student say the same thing about us "why do you guys always look so fresh at 8 in the morning, like ??"

The male lead is a bit an anti hero so there is no vilain in this one . I don't know how to explain but in each situation de characters face it's up to you to decide who's right or wrong. And female lead is a very strong and independant woman, I love her so much, even is she sheems naive she knows what she wants and male lead is a bit of a machist (you know how men are in eastern societies) and they learn to adapt to the other. I don't know, this drama is very well written and quite realistic, love it hehe

I'm from France, Paris. There is a certain aspect of east asian fashion that I enjoy myself like high plateform sneakers (exemple https://tinyurl.com/sneakers93) since we wear them too here but I feel like people maybe wear them more in korea (or in east asia in general?). And I also gave in to the oversized sweaters since I started watching Kdramas, they looked so comfy that I had to buy some to try aha !

I know nothing about asian fashion i'm not gonna lie aha ! I don't watch japanese dramas yet but I'm trying to make myself a list to start ! I don't mind japanese but I can't with the thai langugage T_T
Anyway that's so interesting that the drama fashion matches the one from the people, I wondered but never got an answer on that! I never understood the enthousiasm that some east asian tourists have with our street fashion when they come to my country. If that's how they really dress then I understand better since it's a completely different fashion culture !
