This show has a hopeful ending, imo. Possibly as happy as an ending can get, given the circumstances. It was deliberately left kind of open-ended cuz the last ep ends with them reuniting but doesn't show any further of them talking or touching or anything just them smiling at each other and laughing while the music starts to play lol.
It still made me tear up from happy feels though, simply seeing them smile so freely; the previous few episodes had really put my emotions through the wringer and I was just happy we got some sort of closure for them
I definitely wouldn't call it a happy-go-lucky show, though. I find it nearly impossible to rewatch, not because it's bad in any way, but simply cuz of how raw the emotions it elicits in me are. Simply thinking of some scenes in this show are enough to make me tear up sometimes.
It's not a tearjerker show with extremely tragic backstory for the chars, quite the opposite; it's a tremendously realistic, and most importantly, HOPEFUL show - it really lives up to its title: "Keep fighting, no matter what! You're the best.". I only tear up because over the course of its 40 or so eps i grew so freaking attached to these main chars (like seriously, they're some of the most realistic and likeable I've encountered on this medium and I love and adore all of the 4 main characters so damn much) and seeing them go through the times that life brings and struggle and sometimes cry and be sad made me want to cry a little (a lot) too.
With that being said, there's so much happiness in Mr Fighting too!!! There is a theme of family running through the show that really cemented its place among my favourite shows ever, it was heartwarming most of the time, but occasionally raw and powerful and painful and man can it hit hard.
Also, the main couple is really super freaking cute and they love each other so much and though they might not be the most outwardly affectionate or touchy-feely, they still brought so many smiles to my face watching their relationship develop and seeing how much they would sacrifice for each other <3 :') It's *because* of how much they care for each other that they end up deciding to break up in the 2nd-last ep, because while caring so much for each other so much, they sometimes forgot to put themselves, and their own needs, first. The last episode has timeskips and shows them growing and maturing as human beings; their final reunion occurs with both of them as changed people: older, smarter, kinder, perhaps a little sadder than when they'd first met in episode one; but hopefully, this time, more mature and ready for the challenges that a potential future relationship, and life together, might bring.
In case it's not obvious, I really freaking love this show. It's one of my all-time favourites and I seriously want to watch it again but I'm afraid my weak heart won't be able to take it lmao. It's a sloooow show, and could be called SOL-ish (SOL = slice-of-life) in the sense that we're literally watching these guys live and struggle through their daily lives, but yet it isn't SOLish either, not really, cuz their lives can get really goddamn difficult at times. The conversations are extremely realistic and true to life, it's easy to forget that you're watching a drama sometimes; the sound effects are fantastic (that freakin rooster xD); the soundtrack is generally soft and understated yet manages to complement the emotional moments perfectly when needed as well - that main theme gets me emotional just listening to it lol.
8.5/10

wholesome and pure the whole way thru q(≧▽≦q)
What I liked:- For the 1st 3 eps the main couple's relationship seemed a lil unbalanced like their interactions seemed slightly one-sided (bc he barely talked lol hes a quiet boi uvu), but 4th ep onwards after we got to see a bit more of the main lead's perspective and home life i started to fall in love with them as a duo, hes so starved of positive interactions at home and shes so kind and supportive and wholesome towards him, i was like I SEE THE VISION hahaha ???
- The main friend group dynamics are amazing, wholesome and cute and funny af
- 2nd couple dynamics were super cute, bickering tease-ey friends to sloooowly something more?
- Both of the main leads are equally down bad for each other, obv from the female lead's side bc she's so blatant about her simping hahah but as the show goes on we get more and more evidence he cares just as much it's rly cute. also they go on soooo many unofficial dates before theyve even gotten together it's fabulous haha
- 3rd male lead is a delight, v dorky v outgoing v good boi, he doesnt get a full time romantic partner (which the show pokes fun at in the final ep when his 2 pairs of friends are handholding on either side of him and hes like tf have i gotten myself into hahaha) but we do get a v touching backstory with him and his grandma which was so insanely wholesome man ???everytime they wre on screen tgt i was just??
- The show sidestepped a lot of annoying cliches which I wanna give it credit for - e.g., zero love triangles!!! one ep introduced a female primary school friend but she turned out to be super sweet and supportive of the main couple it was so cute lol. Overall, after getting together officially, both leads so quickly and efficiently shut down any potential suitors it's awesome and kinda hilarious in a meta way lol i love them sm (theyre just like miss me with that miscommunication angst??). Mind you there was a short stretch in eps 15-16 where they werent talking to each for dumb reasons but it was the only time it happened and they are still obv high schoolers so i forgave em HAHA
- OST is insanely good. v chill, v poppy, fit the scenes so well. there were also some familiar soundbites from weightlifting fairy kim bok joo too hahaha which i adored (including the iconic "WHAT" lmaoo)
Nitpicks:
- Male lead's acting was a bit TOO reserved occasionally, obv it's his personality but yea could've used a few more words outta him at times lol, it's why i LOVED the final ep so much, showing him vlogging and sharing his thoughts it was so frickin wholesmoe i died?? mind you as the show goes on esp as an adult he gets more spontaneous and open with his feelings which is perfectly believable so again it's just a minor nitpick
- 2nd couple could've used more screentime development together bc they were sooooooo cute tgt (esp showing the audience how her feelings towards him slowly changed like the show implied it mainly but just a few more lines of her thoughts would've done wonders imo - they did a great job on his end!)
- My girl gotta use her hands more when smooching ?
What I didn't like:
- Male lead's mom, legit wanted to slap her every time she came on screen ??? EASILY the worst thing about the show. thankfully maybe the showrunners guessed how much the audience was gonna dislike her character as she straight up disappeared from the show after episode 15 LMAO good riddance ??
- That's it honestly XD
Overall:
Super likeable show. Sweet af. Diabetes. Eps 19-20 and 23-24 were my favourites? 8.5/10 for me. Def rewatching some eps when i need a pick-me-up and hunting down the OST on spotify☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
