Yeah the initial goal was to produce/film earlier, but since they're not starting until next year, with 7+ months of filming for a 16 episode drama, it won't be done until summer even if they start in January, and then there's the post-production period which is often long with Netflix.
Netflix's 2026 Korean slate is basically already full and this drama hasn't started filming. Based on their usual turnaround time, there's no way it's coming out next year.

Not really true for tvN lately. Sure there's BAYM and QOT, but there's also Jeongnyeon, Under the Queen's Umbrella, Our Blues and lots of other relatively recent non-romcom hits.

Especially since he, as we know, still has a post up for his debut drama (which is probably more than we can say about many other actors with their debut from many years ago).
As for him using the phone case in public as a celebrity, that almost speaks more to his defence in my view. Nobody is stupid enough to publicly flaunt something they know to be nefarious when everyone's watching. And Korean outlets are not known to be cautious at all with these things. They run with things before checking facts all the time. Yet it seems here, they've understood, like most of us, that there's not much of a story.
There's no guarantee it will be another ratings hit, but the combination of Lee Jun-ho's comeback and a drama with a retro 90s vibe is surely promising. Korea can't get enough of the IMF crisis.

I actually find it offensive that BL fans insist on spreading this defamatory, easily disproven lie about him.
Secondly, we know nothing about how he got this phone case. It could've been a gift from a fan or a friend, and he might not even have noticed the English text in the background. Nothing about the drawing of the girl itself is "sexualized". In general, people seem to think the entire thing is a stretch, which is also why it has not been picked up by any serious media outlet in Korea.
Maybe you should consider that people aren't "turning a blind eye" so much as having made the decision that there is really nothing here that's worth denouncing him for.

They have definitely already decided and pre-production seems to be underway. They just don't like to confirm these things this early, so they say something vague like "not confirmed".
