l LOVED this series, but the writing and plot took a really poor turn about 2/3 of the way through. Acting, chemistry…
Too many plot holes. When it was simple it was really good, but they suddenly added too many plot lines that never really came to a head - some of which really had no weight in the end at all.
I thought they would at least wrap up the loose ends by the last episode, but it made no sense right down to the end. The only satisfying bit was her putting to right all the injustice. I thought she was going to change her fate with her first husband and come back with a new fate as her reincarnated modern self … just somehow keeping her memories or something to get back to new Joseon and her husband and life there. Or something that made sense like that to tie back to the whole correcting last fate to make a happy future fate possible. They never resolved the heart issue if he was together with her in the very end either.
The time travel lady disappeared all of a sudden. Grandpa basically disappeared. I was glad they resolved the younger brother storyline a bit (he was such a great character!), but even that could have been better developed.
Idk it felt all over the place in general all to drive at some general message that true love surpasses space and time. Which would have been powerful - if it actually made any sense. The writing just felt lazy or something.
The acting, gorgeous scenery and great plot 2/3 of the way through really saved me from hating this all together.
I was really disappointed in how they developed the first (old Joseon) husband to be so pitiful in the end - it made zero sense. That did annoy me bc it felt like they did his character dirty. It made no sense that she would be so cold to him - since he was just the modern husband before being reincarnated. AND they had some history and love there both ways, it just got cut short before it fully developed. I thought she was trying to avoid him at first bc of the whole — heart failure fate if they’re together thing. But instead it was all about loyalty and love and not crossing lines. Which was super weird since she really gave her heart to the first husband in the first place!! He just died immediately and tragically and she found herself falling in love with his reincarnated self. So weird how they had her character cut him off so harshly after all that development in the beginning. I did really hate his pitiful and futile end.
But because the rest of the relationships and acting was so well done I’m not as annoyed as I probably should be. But truly disappointing end.
l LOVED this series, but the writing and plot took a really poor turn about 2/3 of the way through. Acting, chemistry and cinematography was all on point though. Found the ending very disappointing - mainly just poor writing.
this started off SO slow, but it’s really turned around since episode 6, episode 8 was a real heart wrencher!! really enjoying this light & heartwarming show so far
now that it’s nearing the end kind of disappointed. they should have kept the plot simple - too many plot lines going on, I’ve lost interest. still curious to see end…but I guess I gotta wait a week…maybe I’ll forget lol
It’s been a long time since I’ve been this interested in a kdrama & so genuinely looking forward to more episodes. This is a GEM of a find. I actually am intrigued by all the characters equally, no annoying side characters and so far very tight writing and editing. THIS IS SO GOOD! I’m truly on the edge of my seat, so interested to see where everyone will end up.
Does Gu Won ever actually work? I’m so stressed about this event he has coming up and the fact he’s now managing the entire hotel in order to beat out his awful sister yet it feels like all he does is play and goof off. How does he possibly have time for this? So stressed bc I don’t want these hard-working employees he’s trying to help to have to take the heat bc he’s not focused —ah I just can’t watch. 🙈 Tell me when it’s over…so stressful. I hope this ends well & they don’t drag the competition with his sister around too long.
The show is making this great commentary, imo, about the toxicity of the service industry and specifically how…
I like this take. I also find it interesting that his sister keeps baiting him when he has no interest. Is she goading him on purpose? Also the fact she constantly brings up his mother makes me wonder what her history is there to make her so spitefully jealous. Curious where this will go. I hope it’s more the direction you have in mind with the ending just to teach them the value of teamwork and genuine filial bonds - bred out of sincerity and integrity rather than power and duty.
Sister is just asking for Gu Won to beat her at her own game, why does she keep baiting him? #selffulfillingprophecy managers like her actually cause companies to fail in real life …it’s like she’s trying to set herself and everyone around her up for loss. Gu won has more natural leadership in his pinky finger than she does in her whole being - no wonder she’s so jealous and threatened. Cannot wait to see this woman fall on her face and be greeted with a healthy overdose of humble pie. We all know that’s where this is headed in the end, her character is just BEGGING for it. Please just put her out of her misery now Gu Won, rip the bandaid off. So ready for her downfall and we’re only halfway through. I hope they don’t stretch this one out too long; management culture reform for the win!
Kind of a painful one to watch. I'm not a horror movie person so not my favorite. The acting was good though and it was an interesting concept. Just the content was too evil and creepy.
The main bad guy is a rapist creep, seriously. Trigger warning. Great drama otherwise. 10/10 aside from that sadistic creature of a character that makes my skin literally crawl at every one of his scenes. So sick. The main premise was clever and interesting though. Really enjoyed the rest of the cast and storytelling.
Im not a huge fan of yoona's acting since the K2 but its been years so hopefully she got better. Even if she didn't…
I'm with you, I also stopped watching or being interested her dramas after K2 unfortunately. Hoping this drama's script does everyone justice and reaches the full potential of its cast. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out.
I only wish we had gotten: the epitaph or even a reference around it would have been nice. They also seemed to focus a such a great deal on his complete love for her and him not knowing whether or not she loved him. Her holding it back from him seems to have frustrated some viewers. I believe though that this was done on purpose since historically that is kind of the question no one really knows exactly and there are a lot of elements like that shrouded in mystery concerning this story in general. We know he loved her, but was this love returned? I think they held this back until the very end because it truly was a question they were posing to the audience and viewer, and leaving it open to interpretation in the end. There was never that full satisfying: absolutely 100% yes for sure, because the truth is none of us really knows. But it's really interesting to wonder. I think they did such a clever job with leaving it to the audience, but still showcasing what we all hope and believe. This show is great for the deep thinkers. I'm so impressed on so many levels. I really think the point was to get us to think while honoring the love story and history. It's not a fantasy love story, it's real life and far more complex. Really they could not have balanced it better in my opinion.
Wow, gotta say this was beautifully done from beginning to end. Even though it was tragic and sad ending, I'm blown away by the acting and the way they represented their story. Being that this was based on the true history I felt it was appropriate. So impressed with the way they approached these characters and their life. Life can be truly hard. It really leaves you to think deeply. The ending was perfect. Well done. I mean. So well done.
