i think itās because of censorship they left out what he did and what type of person he really was. in the drama his character seems to have remorse and ashamed of his behavior. i will say itās easier to sympathize with him based on his drama character but not his novel character. although, i can tell heās sorry in the drama but i still think what qingyu did was right. the family wouldāve still been treating him like this treasure of a son when he ruined (and them) someoneās life. like someone said below, it wasnāt just meant for him but the family too.
