Yeah, it's pretty similar to US/other countries' TV/entertainment. If you wanna dip into daily dramas, I highly recommend Temptation of Wife, it's VERY famous. There were about 4 or 5 remakes of it. Chinese, Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese, don't know if there's another one...

Miss Mermaid does the "drama writing as revenge" trope MUCH better. This one was far too repetitive. Definitely not watching it again. I think me giving this drama 4/10 was too generous lol
Red Shoes is a bit better than Scandal since it centers on the villain female lead a lot more. And the heroine (villainess' bio daughter) does take revenge in some ways, she's morally gray too.

Primetime/weekly k-dramas have 12-18 (sometimes 20) episodes. Weekend k-dramas have 50 or more episodes. Occasionally 100 if it's split up into 2 episodes per day, and 4 episodes per weekend. Daily dramas have 100 or more episodes. These can last for an ENTIRE year! Miss Mermaid had 250 episodes, for example.
It's a daily drama, so yes. I wish more people understood this. 😠You don't even have to watch all 100 episodes, the only daily I've ever watched in full was The Promise (which I do recommend, it's great.)
Lame ending with a bunch of plot holes. The only good parts of this daily were the music (both OST and BGM), some of the sets, a few actors, and the outfits. My rating was actually an 8/10 first, but now it's gone down to 4/10. A lot of the drama was too dragged out, and Jung-In's death should've happened at least halfway. I do, however, think it's a good portrayal of the Korean entertainment industry. Most of the acting was bad to average, to good. Jung-In (as the protagonist) is very pretty, but sounded like she had a lisp. And while she wasn't the most amazing actress, Han Chae-Young did very well in the last few episodes and she was charismatic. Han Bo-Reum was bad. Period. She just stared and cried 24/7, making Seol-Ah a VERY boring heroine. Choi Woong was terrible, he was literally a block of wood. He had NO chemistry with any of the actresses making the romantic conflict... boring. The one who DID surprise me was Kim Kyu-Sun, she was bad in Witch's Game but did very well here. Maybe she just plays villains better. I also hated Min Tae-Chang the most as the final boss. Out of the main characters, I loved Ju-Ryun and Jung-In the most. The major characters were fine. Jeon Seung-Bin was okay, but I felt so bad for Na Hyun-Woo! He deserved to be with Seol-Ah! Second lead syndrome strikes again. 😠I also liked Seung-Woo, but my favorite has to be Sun-Ae. She was meticulous and ruthless, I loved that. I didn't care for Seol-Ah's family, but I liked the relationship between Il-Joong and Mi-Sun, they were sweet. Ji-Yeon was nice. I couldn't STAND the grand-aunt, that actress loves to play annoying and exaggerated characters for some reason! I did feel bad for Dr. Kwon, though. He didn't deserve to die like that. Like I said before, the music was amazing. I loved that dramatic piano theme, as well as the tense one with the drums and strings. And the mysterious one with the strings. Okay, the BGM is awesome. And so is the theme song, the singer's voice was beautiful. I can't wait till they release the BGM/full soundtrack.
Overall rating: 4/10. Also, how BIG was that time-skip????
