May I ask you, if the second lead Shen Qi will keep bugging the FL for one sided love and try to break main couple…
I think he comes in later 1/2 of the drama. He won’t be around until he made a name for himself and have a say in front of his family.

It basically depends on if you like this type of drama ...its like love like the galaxy and a dream of splendor…
Love like the galaxy is probably the only drama that I watched that follows closely to the novel. This drama is pretty on point with the drama so far (the main points of the plot twist).

Am I the only one annoyed with all the wives ??? Like they never moved a finger, they would be begging for food…
Yup…they are the worst in the novel. Only the 4th mrs is decent, trusted and helpful when it comes yo handling small family matters. HZ’s mom is just naive and impressionable but bc of that, she’s more of a burden. With tradition, the family’s manager responsibility should be to the eldest daughter in law, if not, the most capable. The drama gave all of them too much credit for being a decent human.

Lol…well the ones that flee were bc they are no longer getting shelter and food. Stay only for the good times but left when bad times happen. Those who stayed bc of the children or they would also left.

The 3rd auntie already have her own son…the one who turn 10 and left with the men. She don’t have to adopt boli…doing so would make him legit and fight with her own for family fortunes etc…she was probably happy at the idea that boli went to the second auntie (her sister in law).

Lol it’s confusing but you are not getting how the society the women are in. Concubine’s kids are considered as back ups. All the concubines’s kids refer to the legal wife as mother and see her as mother. Men had all the fun back in the days. If the wife can’t produce a son as an heir or to carry the family name, they get concubines as back up. Concubines status are low and their position don’t have much day or decisions making. They are in the family as a baby maker and if they produce sons, their status is stable as in stay in the family for life. But if they only have daughter, the man could get another concubine …creating even more internal jealousy and fear among the harem.

There was a reason why the concubine is always lurking around boli. She s his biological mother. If the hua family did not lose their society status, the concubine would not dare to act out. There were other concubines from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd sons but they fled when the family lost power and wealth.

The man only have one legit/legal wife…the ladies after her are all concubines. The 3rd brother have a boy with the legal wife (myolie is the actress playing the third wife). ‘Yee niang’ is translated to auntie-mother…what the kids would refer to the concubines. E.g. jiang (surname) yee niang. The wife position must be empty for a concubine to be elevated. Sometimes the man would just marry another noble lady then promote the concubine. Concubines are usually servants (like maid servant that came with the first wife as her dowry) or low class workers which is why their status is cheap in the family. Bo li is the concubine’s son and if he stay in his biological place, he will always be treated second hand by society. Which is why the concubine agreed to have her son adopted to the second branch (second hua son).

in the novel she is from the future so they had to change that
I don’t get why that theme is so common/popular??? I m glad they can’t include that part in.

What exactly did the Hua family see in the Shen family that they remained friends for so many years? All of them…
Family background (nobility, education, official post) is on par with each other, making the marriage suitable. So if one family is of lower status, the marriage is not well match. That’s how things are back then.

The son was transferred or adopted to the second lady since the couple have no kids. The son is actually from the 3rd brother and his concubine. Once that processed is complete, the biological mother have no say or claim to the son anymore…legally and in the family setting. It’s better to be the legit son of the legal wife than a concubine. Kids from concubines do not inherit family titles or given the same treatment or see as equals.

Legend of yunxi is amazing, must watch!
She was good in that role/drama. That drama did so well with so many new faces (at the time).. I would say that was JJY breakthrough drama.

Even though she isn't popular, she still acted well. The difference in acting is jarring. If the guest actress…
all entertainment cashes in on popularity…or trying to promote them. JJY has delicate features which makes her likeable. Some actress makes it given the right script/drama like JJY when she was in the legend of yunxi. Her popularity started from that drama. If she keeps her image squeaky clean/scandal free…sure she’ll stick around for awhile.

ah, the favourite pasttime of many on this app: bashing the fl.
Bashing would critique everything except her acting. I get that it’s extreme comments from some viewers who just don’t like her as a person. Her acting is not as popular as her popularity. Again, as a season actress with many dramas under her name, you expect better acting to act out a variety of roles of different caliber, not play the same cute innocent maiden. I liked her in the drama with Chen zheyuan bc she suits that role.
