Title Go East Spoiler
Finally completed 🥳
Some of my thoughts...

Just like most Chinese costume dramas that start out lighthearted, Go East became more angsty and political near the end.

That being said, the first 2/3 of this drama - with the Sifang squad, comedy, budding romance, and fun side characters - were my favorite. I started losing interest after Susu died, Ah Shu was recognized as Yanle princess, Yuan Mo was promoted to Sifang envoy, and finally when they went to Yanle. They built this drama around Sifang Pavillion and then decided to take it away in the last eps? 💔 Very thankful for that bonus episode though. Love to see An Xiuyi, Lao Ji, Shen, Lao Yu, and the other Yong officials one last time. (I will mention that due to my busy schedule, I watched the last 15 or so episodes inconsistently, so that might've also contributed to the losing interest.)

Just an unorganized list of things I liked and disliked about this drama, of course not comprehensive:

Likes
+ Sifang Pavillion squad - YM, WKW, YCH, LY, LJ, S, AXY, SS
+ The comedy. Yes, even when it was cheesy lmao
+ Happy ending! (but I'm still kinda confused how Yuan Mo managed to escape that quick)
+ Ah Shu's princess styling
+ Ep 23. That's it. That's the comment.
+ Love the OST sung by Zhang Zining and the one by Cao Yin (ending theme)
+ We all know Tan Jianci is an amazing singer but it's really nice to see Zhou Yiran sing an OST instead of him

Dislikes
- Man in White was always two steps ahead ugh. They couldn't even defeat him until the very end
- Yuan Mo's love towards Ah Shu felt one sided
- Susu.... 😭
- Unnecessarily killing off characters (ex: Ah Shilan and Prince Duomi's bodyguard)
- Wish we got to see more of Wang Kunwu and Yuchi Hua's relationship, especially in the last several eps

On Lost You Forever Season 2 Sep 28, 2024
Commenting cause I miss Chang Xiang Si 😭 the story that changed my perspective on life and how I watch dramas.

What I love about Lost You Forever is that it breaks away from traditional romance stories by demonstrating how our choices and actions shape the rest of our lives. The harsh truth of reality is that we can't have everything we want. Not all people who love each other end up together and not everybody we meet will stay with us forever, regardless of whether we want them to or not. All the LYF characters embody the idea that no matter how deeply we long for something, we must accept that we can't have it all - some desires will be sacrificed and some will be prioritized over others.

Some might disagree but below are my interpretations on the characters, what they chose to prioritize, and what they ended up eternally losing and yearning for based on the choices they made. (As the title says, Eternally Yearning For You and Lost You Forever.)

- Cang Xuan chose to become Emperor of Dahuang but he yearned for Xiao Yao to be with him forever.
- Jing couldn't stand up against his family but he yearned to be with Xiao Yao forever.
- Xiang Liu chose to stay with Chenrong army to the end but he yearned to live freely with Xiao Yao forever.
- Xiao Yao chose a loyal companion who would never abandon her but she yearned for that companion to be a certain person (emphasis on person, not 'type' of person).

- Even the side characters like Ah Nian, Feng Long, Xin Yue, Fangfeng Yiying, former Xiyan emperor, Haoling Emperor, Xiao Yao's mom Xiling Heng, and Chi Chen. What choices did they make? What did they prioritize? What did they lose and yearn for forever?

I'm trying so hard to keep watching but I can't get to like FL, and I also feel like FL and ML have no chemistry…
i also shared the same thoughts as you. they're cute but nothing memorable. the second leads shangguan qian and gong shangjue were the ones who made me continue watching.

the good thing about MJTY though, at least imo, is that all the characters have something interesting to offer (even the side characters). so rather than thinking of this as an FL and ML focused drama, think of it more as a story about the wufang assassins and the gong family.

I'm curious, why will it have two names? Why not just Flourished Peony Season or Part 2? And will the second part be released a year or a half a year after the first? I thought the rule is that you can't air until a year has passed, but I saw some accounts saying it'll be aired half a year after the first.

Like Kokuto said, it sort of is but it also sort of isn't. Lemme pull up the notes that I keep handy cuz this…
I tried to be as neutral/unbiased as possible otherwise some certain people might come at me and I'm too lazy to reply to all of their nonsense again LMAO

But yes there are a lot of hidden lines in LYF. Only a rare group of people are able to unravel its complexity, not simply treating it as a typical romance story 🤭

Have not watched this drama at all, only seen clips on social media platforms like FB. But based on just those clips, I have to ask viewers, are there any fight scenes in this drama where they physically fight and not just rely on CGI and hand motions?

Title The Double Spoiler
I believe the director changed the ending to appeal to the audience and increase the drama's popularity. However,…
Yes I also felt disappointed that their deaths were not really cared about just cuz they're side characters (it was also super unnecessary to kill them off smh). The special episode didn't even mention them although they've been with Xiao Heng for so long. I'd feel happy if they just showed a brief scene of him reminiscing them, maybe right before Xue Fangfei and their kid come in the room.
So many people think love is everything and that it's a happy ending just as long as the main leads are alive and happy and end up together. But I disagree. The Double imo is bittersweet because two important characters were lost and disregarded idc if they're main or side.

Sorry I have to just let this rant out cuz it's been bothering me lmao (I've currently watched 29/37 eps)

Lemme start off pleasantly by saying that I really do like this drama overall. The vibe reminds me of old cdramas, like Chinese Paladin 3 which is one of my all time favs btw. I saw some comments complain about the humor but I personally Iove it and find it refreshing. Tan Jianci ofc main slayer, Du Chun is doing a wonderful job too as Wang Kunwu, Yuchi Hua was off-putting at first but now she's alright. I love the Sifang Pavillion squad including Lao Yu, Lao Ji, and Shen. An Xiuyi and Susu are so adorable despite not being an official couple (yet?) I wish they'd get more screen time.

Ok now the rant. FIRST. Some deaths were completely unnecessary, like Prince Duomi’s bodyguard and Ah Shilan. Did they even try to save the bodyguard before pronouncing him dead?? He died too quickly! And Ah Shilan was very insistent on her revenge so why did she all of a sudden decide to end her life right then and there? Doesn’t make sense, as if they’re killing off characters for the sake of drama or ending a plotline.

Now the main thing that's been bothering me...

The love between Yuan Mo and Ah Shu feels extremely one-sided so it’s hard for me to fully support their relationship. YM loves her and we see it clearly through his facial expressions, actions, and dialogue, ex: buying gifts for her, doing things for her, always concerned about her. Yet I don’t ever see AS do anything for him (except ep 23 when she tried to keep him from leaving).

Like in ep 29, when AS said she’s going to the festival with the refugees, YCH asked “What about Yuan Mo?” and AS replied “If he wants to see me, he’ll come find me there.” What kind of response is this?? She could’ve said something like “Ah right, I should ask Yuan Mo to come along too!” but nooo she doesn’t consider him in her plans at all while he’s always thinking of her. She didn’t even personally tell and apologize to YM herself about canceling the plans. Poor YM was so disappointed cuz he had prepared boat tickets for them…

Girlie does not gaf about that man sorry YM you deserve better. She’s always doing things on her own and ending up in trouble, which makes YM worried sick and have to come play hero saving her 🤦‍♀️ There’s more things that AS said/did/didn’t do that ticked me off but if I go on further then we’ll be here for ages LOL

I’m not gonna blame Zhou Yiran for the most part since she’s just acting according to script and the script/character is my main complaint here. However, I will say that if her facial expressions and acting were more loving and on par with Tan Jianci’s, then I might have liked YM and AS together even just a lil bit, in spite of how poorly she treated him. At least in that case, they would have good chemistry and look pretty cute as a couple.

Mannn what’s up with dramas having insensitive FLs (who are supposedly deeply in love with the ML by the way 💀) The man is always chasing and saving and loving while all she does is EXIST. Just make the relationship equal please and thanks 😭

Wait, so this is a love quadruple?
Like Kokuto said, it sort of is but it also sort of isn't. Lemme pull up the notes that I keep handy cuz this type of question is so common...

There are four MLs in Lost You Forever and the FL has a different relationship with all of them.

FL: Xiao Yao/Wen Xiaoliu (Yang Zi)
1ML: Cang Xuan (Zhang Wanyi)
2ML: Tushan Jing/Ye Shiqi (Deng Wei)
3ML: Xiang Liu/Fangfeng Bei (Tan Jianci)
4ML: Feng Long (Wang Hongyi)

FL's romantic love interests are 2ML and 3ML.

1ML's character and storyline is what drives the plot of this drama. He loves FL romantically but she only loves him like a brother (though it's worth mentioning that she loves and cares for him deeply).

4ML and FL are more like good buddies. Neither of them love each other romantically, but he is an option for FL in case her relationships with the other MLs don't work out.

If you like this kind of story or are intrigued, it doesn't hurt to give it a try. But I know this type of show isn't for everyone haha

What platform are you watching on? I like watching my dramas on kisskh but I noticed that their subtitles do this too. You can watch on dramacool/watchasia. They don't have this issue because their subtitles are already added to the video before uploading. https://watchasia.to/drama-detail/go-east
