The dialogues and circumstances are vastly different in the novel, but it's true that Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao talked at the ocean, and it's also true that Jing found her there when Xiang Liu started leaving. However, the conversation leading to the kiss scene and Xiang Liu feeling it were not in the novel.

This right here. They always gotta include Xiang Liu, Jing, or Cang Xuan when the scene is meant to be or should be for only one of them smh. Like I love seeing Xiang Liu, but if the scene is unrelated to him or is obviously created for pity points then I'd rather not see it at all tbh. I often think about how many times they must've told Tan Jianci to sit in the clam shell, drink some wine, and look sad while they film him lol.

Yes! The one thing I loved about Lost You Forever was that it was different from typical dramas. All the characters and relationships were complex and we could see how their past experiences shaped their futures. But then they decided to alter so many things that resulted in everything feeling one-dimensional and so, so boring.

The acting is no doubt the best part of this drama. Such a shame they were given a poor script. And all that wait just for this... (ToT) I really wish they followed the novel. Even the tiniest change in details can make a huge difference.

Regardless if you're a Jing or Xiang Liu stan, or Cang Xuan or Feng Long or Xiao Yao or anyone or even none, I think it's safe to say we all agree that this season isn't up to par with what we were hoping for.

I've seen a lot of Jing fans complain about Xiang Liu constantly being included in his scenes, and that since the production team is so "biased" towards Xiang Liu, they should just make him the end game. As a fan of him myself, trust me when I say that we or most of us Xiang Liu fans are incredibly disappointed by the changes too. We do NOT want or need to see Xiang Liu feeling Jing's kisses. Whoever decided to add that scene, I hope you sleep with one eye open every night for fhe rest of your life.

I'm a Xiang Liu fan but even I'm appalled at how they handled Jing's and Cang Xuan's scenes. They're butchering everything and everybody, nobody is safe!

I didn't even realize ep 11/50 included a supposed-to-be proposal scene until I read the comments on here LMAO. Jing at the house, "I plan to propose to Xiao Yao here." Switch to XY and CX scenes. Jing brings XY to the house but before he can say anything, XY suddenly interrupts and thanks him, saying, "Our wedding will have to wait." Like.... did I miss something? When did he propose? In the novel, XY never interrupted him.

"As he walks through that cottage you can see what he to would have wanted to create for them, and also where it was doomed to lead."

Don't mind me.. I'm just mourning the loss of how much potential this drama had and how much more beautiful it would've been if it followed the novel thoroughly from start to end. They made too many changes, especially in S2, that it feels like every other drama now instead of a complex story with complex characters.

To the Lost You Forever drama: I'm grateful you were created because your cinematography, BGM, OST, and most of CGI are stunning. You introduced me to a beautifully poetic novel and so many wonderful actors, actresses, and characters. However, it's unfortunate you were produced in an era with too many restrictions that prevented you from reaching your full potential... :-(

You and me both. It's so boring when Xiang Liu isn't here. I literally skip or fastforward every scene that doesn't have him in it LOL and feel sad everytime I watch the opening and ending credits because it makes me miss Fang Feng Bei and just S1 in general 💔

An interesting detail I noticed.

In the portrait in ep 14, Chi Chen wore red while Ah Heng wore blue. The novel also described them wearing these colors.

In eps 22, 23, and 35 of S1 (and probably more eps that I just can't name at the top of my head right now), Fangfeng Bei wore shades of red while Xiao Yao wore shades of blue.

They aren't being discreet about the parallels at all 💔

I was thinking about just how lucky I am to have 4 episodes to watch today since I missed yesterday JUST FOR 14 TO END ON A FREAKING CLIFFHANGER-

Also why do they keep ending the episodes so abruptly?? In S1, they used to pause the last scene then fade out before rolling the ending credits. S2 has no pauses or fade, just a *snap* scene switches to ending credits.

So it seems like Jin Xuan was able to free herself and live a good rest of her life? Love that for her. I do wish that she was the one who said the whole "I'll soon forget you and find someone else" quote just like the novel. In the drama, it was Cang Xuan who said it.

It's just that the Lovers Bugs are clear evidence of YaoLiu's love, so obvious that I can't even fathom how people view it as simply platonic friendship.

But arguing with these people is just like arguing with a wall. Like you said, even if we pull up straight facts, they'll dismiss it and believe in their own beliefs instead. Thankfully, we already know how loved Xiang Liu is by fans, Xiao Yao, and even the author herself.

Is this an extra scene added by the drama? I don't remember it being in the novel. Either way, it's interesting to see how Cang Xuan could've been if he wasn't so possessive over Xiao Yao. (I just realized their names are pretty similar too)

Why are you “very sure” that they didn’t love each other when the Lovers Bug literally exists? It’s solid evidence that they did love each other back in Qingshui Town and still do now despite their opposing stances. Proof that you didn't even care to acknowledge its existence and purpose.

If you read the novel then you already should know that the bugs never turned into Heartbreak Bugs, even during emotional and romantic moments with Jing. When Xiao Yao dated and kissed Jing, nothing happened. When Xiao Yao was so heartbroken over Jing’s death to the point where she wanted to kill herself, nothing happened. Many years passed by and absolutely nothing happened to the Lovers Bugs. In the end, Xiang Liu had to kill them himself. This all demonstrates a strong mutual love between him and Xiao Yao, does it not? Imagine how many more years they would’ve lasted if he hadn’t killed them.

And I’m not sure why you’re saying we should focus on feeling sorry for Xiang Liu for taking on those bugs. There’s so much more to love and discuss about Xiang Liu outside of that lol. It seems to me that we should focus more on the Lovers Bug instead because clearly, a lot of people aren't understanding its purpose. Since you believe that Xiao Yao never loved Xiang Liu, please explain why Tong Hua would create the Lovers Bug plot and why they never turned into Heartbreak Bugs.

Lmao. You make it sound like Xiang Liu was able to "enter" Xiao Yao's heart because of the bugs, when the truth, which so many of you YJ turn a blind eye to, is that the LOVERS bug requires both parties to be IN LOVE in order for it to work. The fact that they were successfully implanted in both Xiao Yao and Xiang Liu means their love is mutual, not to mention they never turned into Heartbreak Bugs. But of course, let's ignore that fact and just criticize Xiang Liu instead because acknowledging the Lovers Bug would mean YaoJing isn't real. I don't care if you ship YaoJing, but insisting that the only person Xiao Yao loves and have ever loved is Jing is just ridiculous.
