They end the drama standing with Israel that killed thousands and thousands of childrenCalling the Palestinian…
They didn't, Netflix twisted the subtitles to make it seem that way,

Justice for "When the Phone Rings"

If you try to translate what was written on the screen during that scene :
"ģ“ģ¦ˆė§ˆģ—˜ ė¬“ģž„ 세렄에 ķ•œźµģø ķ”¼ėž … ķ˜€ģƒ 전문가 źø‰ķŒŒ"

Google Translate ask (Did you mean "ģ“ģŠ¤ė¼ģ—˜ ė¬“ģž„ ģ„øė „ģ˜ ķ•œźµģø ķ”¼ėž … ķ˜‘ģƒ 전문가 źø‰ķŒŒ")

The translation for that is : Korean Kidnapped by Israeli Armed Forces… Negotiation Experts Dispatched 😱😲

It seems the screenwriter's intentions were noble, but little did she know that Netflix—literally the pit of evil—would twist her words on purpose. (I refuse to believe this was a mistake.) They’ve caused this entire mess. Not that I needed more reasons to hate Netflix—I already despise them and don’t watch their propaganda crap—but to manipulate the dialogue of a drama they didn’t even produce? That’s beyond messed up.
I’m reverting my rating back to what it was previously and will finish watching the last two episodes. Before, I only skimmed through them to check the scene in question after seeing the backlash.

Netflix is responsible, but why on earth is MBC staying silent about it?

They should release a statement clarifying that Netflix—aka the pit of Satanism—intentionally altered the subtitles. That would immediately shift the blame from them to Netflix!

Congrats to Wu Lei for winning the Influential TV Series Actor of the Year award at Tencent Video All Star Night 2024 ā¤

ā€œThank you Tencent Video for bestowing me this honor, I will continue working hard and bring more great works to repay all those who like me and my works. I was quite touched earlier because the teacher who handed me the award was a teacher at BFA (his alma mater), he told me ā€œI tested you when you just entered the schoolā€. I hope I can also maintain this pure innocence I had at that time and keep a learning attitude to continuously improve myself and give better works to everyone. Thank you everyone.ā€

While waiting for the 11th episode to be released, I just want to say this: Yoo Yeon Seok was nominated for Best Actor at the Baeksang Awards last year, although it ultimately went to Namkoong Min ā¤ (rightfully so).

This year, however, I haven't seen a better performance than his so far, and I've watched nearly all the popular and successful dramas: Judge from Hell, Flex X Cop, Lovely Runner, Marry My Husband, Connection, The Atypical Family, Love Next Door, No Gain No Love, My Sweet Mobster, and Doctor Slump...

Did I miss any standout performances, or is he currently the frontrunner for the award?

FWIW (fun fact), the originator of this type of story is "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" by Mark…
The concept of going back to the past as part of a story has been explored by various authors throughout history, I am not sure he was the first but surely one of the earliest and most notable examples of this idea being combined with satire is Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889).

The novel tells the story of Hank Morgan, an engineer from 19th-century America, who is inexplicably transported back to the time of King Arthur's Camelot. Using his modern knowledge, Hank attempts to reform the medieval society, often with humorous and satirical results. Twain uses the story to critique romanticized notions of chivalry, organized religion, and the lack of technological progress in medieval times, while also poking fun at aspects of his own contemporary society.

Twain’s work is often considered a precursor to the "time travel" genre, especially in blending humor, social commentary, and speculative fiction. It paved the way for similar stories that use time travel not just as a plot device, but as a lens to satirize societal norms and highlight the absurdities of both past and present.

"You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus." - Mark Twain. ā¤

I’m usually against comparisons in certain cases, but in this instance, it’s honestly justifiable. Both dramas share similar genres and even have parallels in their synopses. Some might argue that Joy of Life isn’t the originator of this type of story, but that completely misses the point. True, JOL isn’t the originator, but it is the pinnacle of the genre. It’s natural for people to use it as a reference, even subconsciously—just as we see with other dramas that are genre-defining masterpieces.

Frankly, it’s unfair to compare Guardians of Dafeng to JOL because the latter is an absolute masterpiece, a rare occurrence in the industry. That’s why its second season was the most anticipated C-drama in years and broke all kinds of records when it premiered earlier this year. Naturally, most dramas fall short when measured against something of that caliber.

That said, this doesn’t mean Guardians of Dafeng can’t be successful. With strong acting and a compelling story, it would have the potential to become a hit. Let’s give it some time. Personally, I’ll wait for the Douban rating before deciding.

In the meantime, let’s act like adults and avoid unnecessary drama or speculation about the comparison. In this case, it’s valid and understandable.

I hope you're being paid to spew all that victimist and hypocritical bullshit to defend a shithole like China.…

Wow, what a compelling argument—insults, assumptions, and fake likes all wrapped up in one neat little package. Bravo! Truly a masterclass in internet debating.

Let me break this down for you slowly, since nuance clearly isn’t your strong suit: pointing out the hypocrisy of people weaponizing tragedies to push their biases doesn’t equal ā€˜defending China’ (shocking, I know). But hey, I get it—reading comprehension is hard, right?

Also, victimist and hypocritical? Big words for someone whose entire reply screams, 'I have no real point but need attention.' Pro tip: next time, try adding a fact or two to the mix. Trust me, it’ll do wonders for your credibility.

And as for your theory about me getting paid—thank you for the compliment! I had no idea my words carried enough weight to spark that level of conspiracy. Meanwhile, you’re out here burning calories creating fake accounts for validation. Impressive dedication to irrelevance, I’ll give you that!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have better things to do than babysit your insecurities. But don’t worry—I'll leave you to count your likes and draft another brilliant reply. Don’t hurt yourself, champ."

As one of my favorite actresses, I genuinely hope she's okay ā¤, and like any rational adult, I'll wait for actual information before forming an opinion. I mean, that's what grown-ups do, right? Speculating wildly isn’t exactly my vibe.

But wow, the ignorance on display right now is absolutely mind-blowing. Some people are truly a special kind of weird—using this situation as a golden opportunity to take cheap shots at an entire country when we don’t even know what happened or why. Are you serious?

And then there’s the virtue signalers, galloping in on their high horses, acting holier-than-thou. Do us all a favor: before tossing out your shallow, faded takes, let’s hear where you’re from. Because, trust me, the hypocrisy levels are through the roof.

The self-righteous West and their minions, always itching to lecture the rest of the world on human rights and dignity, really needs to sit this one out. Their governments treat "human dignity" like a punchline, so spare us the sermons. We’re full to the brim with your sanctimonious garbage. Seriously—enough already.
