this is my most favorite Korean movie! (yeah, miserable bitches says its U.S movie, but for me it’s Korean movie…
I completely agree this is a Korean movie, just maybe not best ever 🤣🤣🤣
But yeah, the art director, director, song writer, voice actors, born in South Korea. Because a couple of them moved to Canada their suddenly not Korean makes zero sense to me.

Who are these people so furious about this being listed here?!

Honestly - just look at the cast and creators:

Maggie Kang - director - born in Seoul
EJAE - singer, song writer - born in Seoul
Ahn Hyo Seop - born in South Korea
Lee Byung-hun - born in Seoul
Kim Yoon - Jin - born in Daejeon South Korea
Celine Dahyeu Kim - art director - born in South Korea

Lea Salonga - singer - born in Manila Philippines (still Asian)
wendell dalit - born in Manila Philippines (artist)
Scott Watanabe - Japanese- American (helped with anime layout and design)
Ami Thompson - artist - born Osaka Japan

This is a story about Korea, drawn by people from Korea (or Asia,) directed by people from Korea, and voice acted by people from Korea or Asia.
If they move to Canada they suddenly lose their ethnic identity?!

I almost understand the wanting of this on anime page - but then shouldn’t we take into consideration if this is more is Hanguk Aeni than anime? And yes, we do have one main American influence- Chris Appelhans - but good grief - if someone in the team isn’t Asian the whole production suddenly become “is not Asian”
And who the heck does it hurt being on here? Seriously, you don’t like it, move on!

So, international and global influence, yes it does have this - but absolutely Korean creators, influence, artwork and subject matter.
Why would anyone want to trash a beautiful production that so clearly both an homage and a tribute to Korean culture?

Sigh, not the AI disclaimers again. I kiiiind of wish an evil person of power gets screwed over by AI and then…
Yeah - I hear ya - I was going to watch this and as soon as I saw that disclaimer, I was like “nope!”
I don’t even care if the show is actually good and not complete crap because of the ai slop — problem is it will be just like corporations putting more and more chemicals in our food over time, our shows are just going to get worse and worse over time.
I might as well switch to reading books now and not support the evil data center owners destroying our land and polluting our water with pfas chemicals.
Believe it or not - McDonalds and KFC were actually edible when I was young, now I’d feather eat cardboard. Same bs is now going to happen to our entertainment.

Here are examples -The centipede was AI. Before, CGI artists did the graphics art manually, with precise placements…
Yeah - I agree. Financial pressure will push the ai on us, as they’ll go for the cheapest form they can - and at first the ai will be done well enough people don’t notice or don’t care.
- so I am very glad they have to say ai as this gives me hope.

My last hope - people angry at data centers producing pfas chemicals, destroying land, water and peace (they’re noisy) all while causing electricity cost to sky rocket.
- these people will not watch anything that is “ai” tagged.
Maybe then, the ai slop will loose $ and studios will stop trying to force it down peoples throats.

Why AI? Why?????

- it’s bad enough AI has ruined social media - are studios really going to start making “some scenes produced by AI” - what scenes? How much of this has replaced real actors and real cinematography?
It destroys art - it’s not intelligent, its a LLM - it is a probability vector.
What does that mean? - a race to mediocrity for art - all art will slowly move to the center becoming more and more bland.
This is an inflection point, artificial “intelligence” is going to destroy media, they’ll be good quality show before this point in time, but over next couple years it will quickly get worse and worse.
I’d rather read a book
We as consumers can stop it - don’t watch ai, or it will be ALL there is, no one will spend the money to make real movices anymore 🥺

Saying his friends treating him badly is justified is clearly a biased opinion, incase you’re wondering there’s…
Things don’t happen in a vacuum - the question is where did the “bad” behavior start?
Hint : it wasn’t the ML who started it. And not all of the other 7 people of the group hate him.
Anyone who is sitting in a place of security and looks down their nose at someone else is a complete loser. And that is EXACTLY what a few of them have been doing. (They’re doing it because they’re scared too, they don’t want to become like him, so they treat him like shit believing he deserves it I order to make themselves feel better.)

They’re pretending they treat him badly because of his - but his behavior is the result of them being superioristic nitwits.
So look into yourself: do you believe your good fortune in life is because you’re amazing and anyone who has less than you should grovel at your feet and kiss your butt?
Then - yep -I understand why you’d side with the others in that group.

However , if you believe success is a combination of dumb luck, perseverance and talent - then you’ll be able to relate to the ML.
The ML has talent, has had bad luck + his perseverance is drying up. He’s trying to cling onto it in any way he can. And his “friends” are looking down on him and sucking the life out of his perseverance.

He needs someone to believe in him.

Ah, yeah - I misspoke - I meant more not worth debating unless there is a possibility of agreement - while what I wrote sounded more like we would HAVE to agree, which doesn’t have to happen either. All I meant is that there are indeed people on social media sites that are looking to argue, not looking to see a diff ent perspective, they’re just looking for a fight - which didn’t really seem to me that was what you were doing - as in just try to argue.

… but after you posted “if it was a late 40 burnout no kids” + and again “late 40s go nowhere lonely” —> it DOES really sound like you think Eun A character holds value BECAUSE she is young - when I feel the opposite.
And that comment could be fairly insulting to older women.

Also - I do know the phenomenon of which you speak - where only young gorgeous women have worth, while men of any age have worth just because they’re men. Although that isn’t true, we see that so much in art and literature that it becomes subconscious to the psyche and women internalize it. I guess I just don’t think it applies here as I saw EunA as broken and lonely and lost. She had no friends aside from her grandmother and she seemed miserable- I took this as a story of them both saving each other.

Got it! 🤣
Yeah - I believe their perspective is wrong + their view doesn’t impact my life or any of the people I care about lives …
- but yeah, you’re right, it’s normally not any good to be pulled into a debate with someone who is never going to agree with you.

You know? I’m totally down with patriarchy bs being nonsense + if that’s what you’re trying to point out - yeah, totally hear you.
Just it doesn’t sound like that’s your point at all as you made some unfortunately shallow and awful comments about 40 year old women going nowhere and implied they’re inherently unattractive by their very age - so, she’d suddenly be worthless if she was 40?
Only attractive people + young people of both sexes can be seen on screen?

Thing is: I have ZERO issues with this story or how it’s cast.

I do have issue with: women only worth anything when they’re young and men have value at any age.
BUT - you are saying he’s worth poop (because you believe him unattractive and old (gasp) and so he also needs an old and unattractive 40 (almost dead!) women by his side.
So it sounds like you have a problem with old unsightly people - not that you have a problem with double standards and hypocrisy.
And I cannot agree with you on this.

lol, no - no dancing around or “saying” anything, 🤣🤣🤣🤣 - just simple truth.
I’ve known personally some gorgeous women who had to deal with mediocre looking very mean girls types - nasty creatures who had fancy cars from daddy, nice nails, but weird face and frizzy hair. They were cruel and belittling. They were nasty and felt need to fight to keep the idea they were somehow better than others because of their beautiful expensive purse.
Those gorgeous model level girls went for the “guy who made them laugh” + guess, what - ended up super happy.
Yeah, age difference- get your point somewhat - 10 years is easy to overcome- but 15 is a lot harder. Different musical preferences, different generation - harder to find perfect match.
But is the 15 year age gap you speak of, is that actually diegetic to the story - or just the age between the actual actors.
If it’s diegetic, I’d still say possible but harder to overcome.

I saw a gorgeous girl marry this sweetheart of a man 17 years older than her - her family was super upset and tried to stop. But her father was crazy temper/ abusive type - she’d tried to kill herself multiple times by the time she met the much older man. She was miserable and kinda mean herself until she met him - he calmed her and just adored her and I saw her heal her heart, and that made me think “oh, yeah, I see why she loves him.”
Not an ideal age difference at all, but they still married and still happy - so it is actually possible + not a just say anything excuse.
Matching on a personal note + finding someone who is kind to you is much better than some superficial bs on beauty.

like why do you cast a 30 yr old beauty and then have her portray a character that wants to be a mother for an…
As you already know, beauty is skin deep. The character Eun A makes perfect sense - although she is a natural beauty, she has been abandoned by her mother at a young age and pushed down by society.
Naturally pretty young girls who don’t have nice clothes and support are often attacked by the mean girls at school - we see this in the drama, perhaps not specifically mean girls, but the heavy judgment from the other children in her class. And we CERTAINLY see the judgement from her coworkers who shun her, make snide comments and ostracize her.

Social pressures are NOT just about beauty, but about acceptance in general - and the way this character dresses and her introverted nature and sad demeanor make her an easy target for shallow people.

The characters Dong Man is incredible beautiful breath of fresh air for her. Trust me, I see it - he lifts her up and helps her smile.

This show would only make sense to someone who can look past the incredibly useless and unimportant skin deep way in which incredibly shallow and superficial people judge others.
These two main characters help complete each other - they fulfill each others missing pieces and HEAL each other … nothing matters more than someone who makes you feel happy and safe - and that’s what they do with each other.

I’m not looking for someone who will look good standing next to me - I want someone who can make me smile and can share joy and knows how to both give and receive love. What spiritually and self aware person cares one bit about how clear a complexion is? Just take a shower and go to a dermatologist - what’s on the inside? That’s priceless.
Think this author is very wise.

I would! I'd rather be friend with him than with snakes who act nice with you and stab you in the back.
- you know that might be it, do you think?
It’s the snakes thing -I’m totally repelled by snakes who smile to your face then stab you in the back. I’d rather someone just be honest.
Doesn’t that work out best - if you don’t like me, then leave.
Snakes want something from you, though - like from Dongman they want his ideas. So they fake kindness to his face + make snide remarks that he overhears …. And he’s terrible at pretending it doesn’t bother him so he reacts and they act worse.

He is soooooooo much better than all those people who put an insincere smirk on their face + act like they’re doing you a favor as they stab you in the back as soon as you leave.
I think the people who dislike Dongman don’t mind pretending everything is fine when it’s not. People being insincere doesn’t bother them, they’d rather have the saccharine sweetness than any kind of truth. I really don’t understand that preference, but it’s their choice.

Just as I don’t like your opinion, you don’t have to like mine (which is the romance that was in this was perfectly done)
, but your violating MDLs by swearing and insulting me personally - suggest you take a moment to think before you post and touch grass.

I did, you didn’t like how the last couple of episodes spent any time at all on his movie and it should have focused on their relationship.
It DID focus on their relationship, there just wasn’t any troupe lovey doves scenes. Your criticism is about the romance between them when this IS NOT LISTED as a romance. Of course the genre matters, lmao. Would you complain about the lack of science fiction on a historical drama? No
Your criticism is OFF place. The last two episodes are amazing.
They do have an adult relationship, with affection, trust and support. It is what an adult relationship should be.
Because the don’t hold hands like you wanted you knock you say the episodes should only get a 7?
Good grief - once again - NOT a romance genre, the holding hands a kiss scene at the end or proposal you would want out of a romance isn’t here - and it does NOT belong.
Their relationship is already perfect, you want a sexy scene? go rent an adult movie.

After 24 hours pondering how this show was a magnificent joy ride for ten episodes, but went into hyper-rush mode…
Please note - the genres attached to this drama does NOT list romance - down rating a series because it isn’t in the genre you want does not really make sense.
Also, they had the most beautiful exchange in the last episode with Dong Man saying that’d he love her even if she was a man or the wind. There are ohhhhhh so very many Kdramas that focus on romance and have all the tropes - the first touching hands, the umbrella, the falling onto each other and slamming teeth (never really understood this one, looks painful!)

I would love to have seen this series go on for 50 episodes, and yeah, see a future seen with the two of them together - but think the episodes that we have are perfect and I think it was exactly what the writer wanted to express. A kiss scene wouldn’t really have added much at all to this, in a way - it would have detracted from the light that shown in both of their faces when they just looked at each other 🥰
YES the two had this amazing relationship, and yes, this relationship had a strong attraction. He said he would always be there for her no matter what, and she is obviously smitten with him.
I strongly disagree- this shows is a 10/10 all the way!

[Sorry for bad English] I was waiting for this to finish, I was so excited to finally start to watch this (i didn't…
The first couple episodes are harder because of the way ML is portrayed.
But remember- “bad behavior” doesn’t happen in a vacuum- I believe it is important to look at why.
Sometimes people treat a person badly, and pick on a persons weaknesses - and then, when the person reacts to their nastiness, they act all high and mighty “ how dare you get upset” and act as though they we not the ones who started it.
They are bullying him - once you start to move past this, and empathize was his plight, the drama unfolds beautifully and is a gorgeous show of human being fighting to overcome life’s struggles and their own sense of worthlessness.
Watch how these same people treat Eun A - it becomes a little more obvious how they’ve beeen treating Dung Man all along.
