The synopsis isn't unique, there's plenty of similar stories to it so the plot was quite predictable. For example, i knew Zhou Ru Yin was not a good person from the get go. I can also say the mother may seem harsh now, but maybe she's doing this to protect her daughter from whatever is happening within the family. The mother already knew Ru Yin is the mastermind behind the curse, who knows what else Ru Yin did to the family in secret. As for Fu Yun Xi, he obviously knows the Han Yan is a good person, and clearly is teasing her. Maybe he wants to hear the story behind her crime from Hanyan herself?
Regardless of how predictable this was, I quite like it. I initially wanted to skip but Chen Duling is finally getting her historical drama lead role so I'm excited to see how she brings her character to life. So far, she's doing a wonderful job!! As for Xin Yun Lai, this is my second drama of his, he was in Legdn of Shen Li, and is very attractive ngl, so he was a another reason why I wanted to watch this drama. Glad I gave it a chance! I think what I'm looking forward to is the secret within Zhuang family, and how Yun Xi and HanYan end up together. :)
edit: I just recalled Ru Yin said she was married to the father first before Hanyan's mother. Maybe she schemed and tried to ruin Hanyan's chance at marriage to give to her own daughter, but too bad it was given to the elderst sister. But who really poisoned the eldest sister? Could it be Ru Yin and not some assassin for Yun Xi? It sounds like Ru Yin would do anything because she has a son, and believes her son has the right to the family inheritance, and everything. He will obviously carry the family name but he's not on the register because his mothe ris a concubine. Maybe Ru Yin had attempted to end Hanyan's mother's life but ended up crippled. So many theories, can't wait to see it unfold!

Excited to watch this after watching the trailer! It looks very promising! And the leads are very close in age which makes it even better! :]

The actress for Si Yi is really good, I like the way she acts. Very natural, and impactful.

I agree, I'm currently watching episode 5 and there's one scene where she acts exactly like a child. That's my issue with her acting, it's gets too overly cute in a bad way and it really does make her characters immature and childish.

I understand she has range, "My Journey To You" was literally the one drama that showcased that. However, ever since that drama, all of her other characters are just cute. Knowing Esther's real personality, it just feels like she's playing herself in this drama instead of bringing a new taste to the character.

Second of all, judging someone's acting skill is very much subjective! You can enjoy her acting, while there will be others who won't enjoy it as much. It's totally fine!
Thirdly, it has nothing to do with her being cute, but it has everything to do with her FORCING more cuteness into her character that makes it unnatural in a modern setting. Especially when everyone around her is not on the same wavelength as her. In addition to the fact that this drama isn't marked as comedy. Heck, the point is she's doing it excessively and it's not looking natural.
So if I can't say she can't act, what makes you have the ability to say she CAN act? You don't have any, right? Therefore, anyone can say whatever they need to say about an actress because she is here portraying a character for the audience to watch! I am an audience, I will critic her acting, what else am I suppose to do? Even grandpas and grandmas would be judging everyone's acting, you act like no one should be judging her. Gtfo of your delusional world.
Newsflash, not everyone watches slap-stick comedy, or sitcom comedies. There's also comedy in other genres as well and it's very natural with just line deliveries and natural expressions. Moral of the story, not everyone will like the actor or actress' acting, nor will they like the same genre. The faster you realize that, the easier it is to move on .
And P.S. No, I don't need female bad - ass characters, I look for good actresses who can play a variety of characters and are able to display a variety of expressions and personalities.

This isn't about whether or not Esther is cute. It's about the CHARACTER she plays. Not every character of hers need to be cute. Yes, I know she is naturally cute, but there's a difference between naturally being cute and acting excessively cute. For example, when she pouts or smiles its like :3 instead of a normal smile. She does a lot of pouting, very cutesy expression. Hence, I'm wondering whether the character is like that in the novel! If she continuously acts cute in majority of her roles then it's clear she's not a very good actress.

Can anyone tell me if the novel version of the female lead suppose to act purposely cute because it's starting to get on my nerves. It's not natueal acting at all.
