the writing messed up big time. i had sooo much fun, but now all i think about is wasted potential. maybe they tried to do unreliable narrator/distorted pov because of terminal illness? don't get me wrong, writing is still messy, but maybe it's just a poor execution? dunno
One scene here reminded me of a time when a priest told me that homosexuals were satan's creation, while i was deep in denial about being gay and having feelings for my friend. I ended up sabotaging our relationship because i felt disgusted with myself, and i never saw her again. It took me almost 10 years to stop being in denial and to stop getting lump in my throat whenever i thought about it, while everyone else had already moved on. And to this day, i see day after day religious people promoting conversion therapies in my country.
So after EP2, i can only hope they'll handle this topic at least in a decent way, since GMM series have let me down too many times by treating issues like this in a "family-friendly" way (no wonder), when the reality is that religious people are incredibly cruel to gay people, in one way or another, and we often cannot fully recover from it, sometimes it destroys our lives, especially if we're in completely religious environment. I hope that by the end of this series, traumatised gay kids will feel less alone in this world and will feel seen.

yeah, it felt very ridiculous for me, like they wanted to skip it as fast as they could while cuts are weird, but later it was fine actually, so i dunno what happened. there's a lot of assistant directors, so maybe that's why it look this way. i hope it won't happen again, since lazy writing/directing is the worst thing you can do to more serious topic
