Both TW and SGBS feature plots heavily surrounding super hero abilities and have genres that include fantasy, action, comedy and romance. SGBS is more of a romantic comedy first however whereas TW has some romance sprinkled in but the main elements of the show are the group relationships, comedy and action,
Both involve plot surrounding blood types/blood infections generating different categories of humans and are science fiction. Both have possessive MLs and are heavily romance focused. ABO Desire is a BL whereas Affinity is not. Both are shorter dramas.
Both take place in the Joseon Dynasty, include focus on royalty and memory loss. FL has memory loss in MR whereas ML has memory loss in 1DMP. MR also features fantasy elements unlike 1DMP. 1DMP is also more of a lighthearted romcom compared to MR.
Themes of unrequited love and friends into lovers. ML is photographer in both. MTF is a longer form drama with more back and forth compared to S1.
Both explore the legal genre, although BTB is more legal heavy whereas JFH heavily includes fantasy elements. Both feature romance, however, JFH certainly includes more romance and BTB more so hints at it, but I wouldn’t say it’s the main genre of either. JFH is darker, gothic, and more gory. Both focus on one case per episode usually, although JFH is more about punishing each evildoer whereas BTB focuses on defense. Both explore the morally grey areas in life and provoke the audience to think.
Both explore the law from different points of view. Both are labeled as “romances.” BTB certainly has more elements of romance than JVJ and both hint at romance between the main leads, but I wouldn’t call these romances. Both feature a ML and FL who at the start have differing personalities and friction between each other.
Same ML actor in both. ML is similar in that he is entitled and arrogant and falls head over heels with FL. However FBRS has more plot in terms of drama between characters and the ML is younger than FL. Both have romance and comedy.
Similarities:
- Strong and cunning FLs
- Hidden identities/undercover missions
- Espionage
- Political landscapes/schemes
- Mystery
- Poison as tool for control
- Romance built on mistrust and shifting alliances
Differences:
- Tone/genre (MJTY is darker/gothic whereas TPG is more traditional historical)
- Pace of romance (TPG has more push and pull)
- ML personality (MJTY appears more caring/warm on the surface whereas TPG’s ML is feared)

Both MPS and ATCY are Korean dramas with romance, time travel, and mystery. Both attempt to alter the past. Both use a “device” to travel to the past. In ATCY, it’s a mixtape and in MPS, it’s a car. However, in MPS, the characters travel as their current selves, and in ATCY, the characters travel into an alternative version of themselves in the past. Overall, ACY is much more convoluted.
Both have unexplainable phenomenon/plot mystery. Both have a sort of time travel. Both are trying to prevent a catastrophe. However, Alice is more future based than in the past. Alice has a ML and FL, but the main character is the ML. Lastly, ATCY is much more romance heavy whereas Alice has sense of romance but overall is not a romance between the ML and FL.
Both have similar themes of parallel character shown as “trapped” inside the body when the other character takes over. Both explore an alternative world/time travel. However HOG, the female lead goes to multiple timelines and versions of herself whereas ATCY, the female lead goes back to the same timeline. Also, in HOG, the female lead travels with a male lead and they experience it together. Both also attempt to change the course of events and both have romance although HOG it’s more secondary. HOG it’s also a Chinese drama whereas ATCY is a Korean drama.
Derailment and ATCY have heavy tones with romance, thriller, mystery, and fantasy elements. Both explore time travel and alternate worlds. However, Derailment is a Chinese drama and explores memory loss and altering more than ATCY.
