There is no hate on the actors and this isn't about the haters but about the plot or I guess directing? I've watched up to ep 3, and I noticed that the director or screen writer didn't maximize the use of fl's rebirth, and her past experiences to the fullest. Yes, she's getting revenge and changing her past, but the very first scene of ep 1 where fl dies from ml (that's to be determined in later eps) and wakes up to her past...I thought this could've been written better like give more of the background story instead of just 1 second. The constant flashbacks of fl's previous life is a given and that's perfectly fine beause it provides viewers of what happened in the past and what fl wants to change. But I feel like it's a bit unclear of timeline of when flashback happen.

I will continue to watch and see how this drama developes

omg why would you think the rumour of him being ml be true?? Honestly, he seems too greasy, and I also didn't appreciate how he flirts with other girls and tries to create cp hype everytime. Rmb in Forest vs with ss and him. he kept saying stuff to ss to make it sound like there's something between them other than friends. He would flirt with her and ss would role her eyes and call him crazy. She would deflect him. He wanted to create cp hype with her bc GA was mega successful. so from then, my impression of him deflated.

I won't deny he is talented, can act, sing, dance, play piano. But not all roles fit a person, and this ml doesn't fit him one bit. Ugh, if it's him I really am questioning the productions decision. He was fantastic in GA though.

I just watched a few scenes and the Vietnamese version of lx Cannot compare to swl’s lx. Im sorry but he’s not handsome haha.

no offence to any zxc fans, but I also hope he's not ml, and I'm sure it's just antis spreading rumours so there's fan wars. zxc doesn't fit ml, and I will never watch this drama if they become romantic leads. I just can't watch his romance bc he gives me certain vibes. He's a talented guy, don't get me wrong.

ss was 29 when she filmed GA so it's pretty close in age with this vietamese actress. Do you know the name of the Viet version? I wouldn't mind checking it out

two dramas of same actor airing same month isn't rare anymore. It's becoming common because production company or whomever makes the decision wants that particular actor's drama to air while his or her other drama is airing. like hit it while it's hot, but it's a bad plan. it happened to HuYitian, he had two dramas airing at once and it was hard for viewers to be in to one cp while he is also with another cp. so in the end one will be superior than the other.

I don’t care what anyone says about this drama. The drama is the best. It’s already proof when so many other countries want to make a version. Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, turkey and most likely many more. I’ve never seen a C drama have so many version adaptions intl

This question was brought up many years ago. I forgot the answer, but technically sml, when he was still a child and underage, he is not a foster child or adopted by the li Family. He had no bio dad and her mom disappeared. There’s no legal documents for adoption and China is strict.

The drama is still going so strong, now there’s a Vietnamese version airing soon. I saw a bit of the trailer and it seems like the Vietnamese version is more similar to the Chinese original one. much better than the Korean version

It’s a no-brainer to watch the original version, which is the Chinese version. It’s that good that’s why so many countries are making a version of it

All speculations, I hope there's better script and production. but if she ends up taking it I hope the ml is good.

And look how well Brocade Odyssey did. People are referring Brocade as a flop (I personally don't think it's a flop but i also couldn't finish it). Just because Against the Current make drastic changes from the novel can't gaurantee it will do well.

If the changes are of her seeking revenge and justice, great. However, in the novel her family died bc they supported the crown prince. The crown prince fell and so did his supporters, and the king ordered the death or exilation of her family. Not a particular family or bad guy that ended her family, so the writer would have to make major changes in order for her to start revenge, since in the novel she accepted the reason why her family died. There was barely any mention of it actually, it was to a point insignificant.

She's already dont Shu Brocade, with the harem fights, if she does it again people will just say she repeats her dramas. Just bc this is a Tencent production doesn't mean it's a project she should grasp. There's plenty great opportunities down the road.

In the end, it's ss' decision. Like I mentioned before, if she does take this drama I will fully support and hope for the best. If she chose this it's prob something she saw of fl character. She typically chooses projects based on that. We'll just have to wait for April to see.

I've read the novel when ss was rumored to be fl. So I have strong opinions towards this drama adaption and on ss taking this role. I do want to make disclaimer that if ss does take this role in the end, I will definitely support her and wish her luck.

This novel is complimneted to be well written (not plot or character wise, but how it's written and the choices of words author uses), but not suited to be adapted as drama. If it is to be adapted as drama, the plot, at least the fist half, will be boring.

fl, or ss, will be scrutinized for her role in this drama. These days Chinese people especially females, like to watch female empowerment such as revenge or girl power, but this novel the fl is the opposite. She's demure, in a big and powerful family of the ml she can only follow rules and social norms of what is acceptable of proper ladies. She has not one single female friend, there's no real 2ml. All side female characters are jealous girls that like ml and eventually ends in tragedies such as ml beating them to death, demoting them to maids or selling them off to brothels.

The main problem is ml being abusive and sexually coarsing and assulting fl, and what's even more ridiculous is fl accepting and eventually falling in love with ml. fl doesn't fight for herself, she just accepts and becomes mother teresa. Chanting Buddhist mantra.

The other problem is fl is described as unearthly beautiful. she's beautiful when she sleeps, eats, sits, stares in to space, breathes. Every chapter I read mentions her beauty. This will be a burden for ss. SS isn't fit for this role, and I don't think this drama will do her justice or benefit her anyway. I really hope she doesn't take this drama.

I think it'll be very hard to find actors/actresses for these leads. it's so specific. ss never comes out to refute anything, regards to projects.

Oh really ding refuted. haven't noticed because XHS is still going strong with him as the rumoured male lead. However, I am glad it was true that he really did refuted. I also now want ss to also refute this drama.

it's open ending so believe what makes you feel best. From the videos I saw they were glowing and then disappeared in to thin air so that made me think they died and disappeared on earth, no longer exisiting. Also, his hand, in the end, is not missing his 3 fingers anymore.

Both leads died in the novel and seems like the drama they also implied they died. I read a comment on xhs saying that after what they experienced, earth is now not a fit place for them to live, and death is a better closure for them. Quite sad
