Title Story of Kunning Palace Spoiler
real talk tho if FL is sane and wants to marry someone the correct order should be Zhang Zhe>Yan Lin>Villager…
I'd have a lotttt of trouble picking between Yan Lin and Xie Wei, but in the end I'd pick Xie Wei because he's more assertive/dominant/controlling. It'd be a hard choice though. But I'd NEVER pick Zhang Zhe in a million years. He's so damn boring and proper, and his EQ is lower than the other two. Ughhh if I had to marry him, I'd probably run away from home. And go straight to Xie Wei's house.

"Doesn't need or want your permission to dock" lolllll! That's why I'd let him dock, wooo baby he's so fire.

I don't like gentle, I like feisty. I had 2 LTR's with "nice" guys who deferred to me in everything important, and were very gentle. Lemme tell you, it doesn't take long to become exhausted having to be the one who makes all the decisions and get everything done and tell the family what to do and be the final say. And it's not sexy! When youre the female wearing the pants in the family, it sucks the romance right out of the relationship, fast.

Then I met a feisty "red flag" and we were together for 12 years and it was the funnest most awesome 12 years of my love life. We were gaga for eachother like high school kids til the end, it never got old. He had no problem taking control of decisions and situations and deciding what we were going to do, and it was sooooo relaxing after the last 2 relationships I was in. Felt like being on a luxury cruise. Finally I didn't have to be the spine of the family. And our love life was HOT, wayyy hotter than with the other guys who were so gentle. Forced kisses are horrible if you're not into the guy. But if the guy lights you on fire, then forced kisses can be extremely fiery and fun. Me and my man used to take turns chasing eachother and attacking eachother, while the other would play hard to get. God, it was such a hot relationship!

If you're with someone like that, but you don't share values or morals, then I could see that being a scary or frustrating thing. But if you DO share values and morals with him, then having someone who's more controlling is like being pampered and cherished. But trust is everything when it comes to having a relationship with a guy like that.

Zhang Zhe, just thinking about a relationship like that makes me tired.

Title Story of Kunning Palace Spoiler
honestly, that dying act at the last episode to ''trick'' her to marry him is foul. it left a bad taste in my…
On my first watch, I didn't think much of it, I was just wondering how injured he really was, and there wasn't much time to think about it because then comes epic kiss time.
On my rewatches, I thought it was funny. This guy acts so serious and is scheming to take the throne for the Yans and trying to survive all these plottings and attacks, hide his snow dementia from everyone, and fight an addiction to painkillers.... but yet he still has time and energy left to do things like snatch walnut cake from her friend, get petty with Yan Lin at a barbecue, piss off Ning'ers dad, pretend to teach her qin every day even though she's hopeless, stab himself to win an argument.... and fake being mortally wounded after a massive swordfight to get his way on getting married.

But think about it this way.... Ning'er is stubborn and not always very practical. She gets in a sexual relationship with Xie Wei, and then immediately afterward says she doesn't know if she wants to be married yet. Well, in that day and age, females can't just do stuff like that, their reputation is everything. Xie Wei was probably shitting bricks that she'd be so much of a dingbat that she is actually thinking about NOT marrying the guy she just slept with. If anyone caught wind of that, they could both end up in trouble.

He's just willing to go to that kind of length in their battle of wills because he's trying to protect her from herself. Again. And he knows how stubborn she is.

Can anyone recommend me another Chinese drama similar to this? I am mostly Kdrama viewer but god after completing…
My Fated Boy, only in that one it's the ML that's younger with a big since-childhood-crush on the FL. It's not as good as HL, but it's very similar and also very good. I'd give HL a 9.5 and MFB a 9.

So far all the complaints i'm seeing was LX being arrogant and jerk, so lot of people don't like to see those…
I just thought it was boring. If the whole drama had been like the opening scenes, I would have liked it a lot more. They show you a badass ML, then yank him away and replace him with a boring nerdy ML. I don't care how sexy they try to make computers and coding, it's not a sexy subject. ML was sickly, I don't go for that either. 2ML the "rival" was a whiny pain in the ass psycho. And the FL rubbed me wrong, like she was too self-righteous. And the time-skip sucked. We're supposed to just pretend they dated for three years without seeing ANY of it??? That made no sense whatsoever and just broke up the drama into two separate parts for no real reason.

🚨underrated alert. 🚨8.7 maybe a bit low. As other 8.7 drama don't even hold a candle to this. 9.0 should…
I gave it a 7, I didn't really enjoy it all that much. So there are people like me bringing the score down.

I'm watching Forever Love, which predates L&P... and wow L&P borrowed heavily from Forever Love's ACP competition side-plot.

I’m more into kdramabut i see rating here is 9if anyone here is watching kdrama more than cdrama do u recommend…
It's the best of it's sub- genre. Whether you like it will depend on if you can handle this subgenre (simple, fluffy, chinese romance), but for what it is, it is hands down the best, there is no question.

Still can’t find another drama with a similar ML and amazing chemistry (and HE) between the leads despite all…
I hope screenwriters and producers take notes on this.... this drama put its finger DIRECTLY on what it is the Dark ML-loving audience wants to see. We need more stuff like this.

Xue Shu has such an annoying smile!!! ugghhhh this actress did her job well, can't stand this character 😖
It's her nose. She has a weird hook-nose. And an odd smile too, double whammy. But I have to say, on the third rewatch (not the second lol).... I started to feel sorry for her.

Agreed. He has a unique blend of boyish/impish humour and what my grandma would call "an old soul" in his eyes,…
They should do a remake of Eternal Love of Dream with Ge Yang as ML and Lusi as FL. That's be the cutest drama-age-ap romance ever <3

Title My Demon
I looked at your watchlist... for k-drama, I would recc Come and Hug Me, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, Crazy Love,…
yeah i thought Alchemy of Souls was pretty forgettable. This leads to another problem with k-dramas.... the hype lots of times isn't justified. With C-dramas that doesn't happen as much. It still happens sometimes but nowhere near to the level it does with k-dramas. So you could "hear it was really good" and then it turns out it's not. Like this one. And it's hard to figure out which ones are actually good unless you slog through a bunch of crap first, because no matter what you look at watching, there's a gaggle of teens out there raving about how it was just so good even if it's awful.

Costume dramas ----> yeah k-dramas leave really slim pickins in that department. Joseon era clothes are just not as cool as historical chinese and wuxia clothes. I wish k-dramas would break out of their box more and try new things, but they're just not big risk-takers like chinese.

I used to like k-dramas better, but now I like c-dramas better, and it's generally because they create more realistic characters that have more intricate and true-to-life inner psychological makeup. K-drama characters more often are doing stupid things to further the plot, that no normal RL person would do, and they're not as believable. Just in general. Not always of course.

Title My Demon
No disrespect to anyone who loves this drama but unfortunately this was not my cup of tea. I felt so frustrated…
I looked at your watchlist... for k-drama, I would recc Come and Hug Me, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, Crazy Love, It's Okay Not to Be Okay, My Roommate is a Gumiho, Oh My Venus, Devilish Joy, and Love To Hate You.

It's hard to go from C-dramas to K-dramas, especially lately because c-romances have really stepped up their game in the past few years, whereas K-romances have gotten worse. But there ARE good k-dramas out there, and My Demon is NOT one of them, it's one of the worst I've seen. So perhaps resist the urge to judge the entire genre by one extremely bad drama. Maybe try again later with something that represents the best of it's genre.

Even then though, the best k-dramas are just not quiiiite as good as the best c-dramas. There is nothing like TTEOTM or SoKP or TLB in the K-drama world. But they are still pretty good if you find a good one.

I have the same problem with j-dramas, I've seen many now, and even the best J-drama I can find is nowhere near as good as a k-drama or c-drama, just imo. Maybe I just haven't seen the right j-dramas.... but I'm not a fan of the way a lot of j-dramas are concluded with an open, vague, "artsy" ending or some kind of unhappiness or tragedy. Some are really not bad at all, but i have yet to find one that I think is outstanding.

Hmmm. Yeah idk.... I made it to ep 20something and I'm not feelin it between those two chemistry-wise. He is so superfine, but the two of them, I just don't find myself really shipping them a whole lot.

Seems like a painfest. Lots of crying and frustration and crazy bitchness etc etc.

The romance is slow and not really the driving force of the drama. Also, the emperor *does* know what goes on,…
I'm quite sure they were, but I definitely don't watch c-romances for the realism ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ!!!

ohhh man, I am just not entertained in the least by this insanity.
