Here hoping for a decent/watchable/i won't drop typa drama. I have faith in the cast, as for the script, i haven't…
k-dramas have been going through this slump where the production is good, the actors are solid, but the script is just uninspired and crappy. I hope they pull out of their funk, because i used to watch k-dramas all the time and loved them. Now, not so much. C-dramas have been kicking the crap out of k-dramas lately, when that didn't used to be the case. Flower of Evil, That Winter the Wind Blows, Another Miss Oh and Que Sera Sera, Cheese in the Trap, Shopping King Louie, The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.... there used to be so much cool stuff to watch.
what do you mean? I don't think that's true, I watched 6 dramas he was in with a main role (i didn't watch "atypical…
I think he's good at angst, so I liked him best in come and hug me and born again. But I don't think any role he's taken so far has been able to fully tap into his potential. He's really versatile and he's good at comedy, but I want to see someone go dark-romance with him. My roomate is a gumiho could have been good, but they paired him up with this chick who wasn't well matched to him and couldn't keep up acting-wise, and then put her in mom-jeans with a dumb haircut and a sweater, and it just put off all the wrong vibe.
I don't know why it's so hard for korean dramas to go full on dark romance, they always take a serious subject and then lighten it up until you can't take it seriously, like my roomate is a gumiho, my demon, scholar who walks the night, kill me heal me, doom at your service, master's sun, etc.
I like full on batshit crazy, and dark psychology, so I tend to gravitate towards c-dramas, and I can think of so many dark c-drama roles that JKY would have just slayed in.
I don't hold out a lot of hope that this is going to be some epic role for him, but honestly he's good in anything he's cast in, even if the show itself is garbage, and I'm excited regardless.
all j-dramas and short length c-dramas start off as a 7 also.
I think the algorithm is hinkey. I just watched this j-drama that was decidedly not sucky, and while it was still airing, i went through and did the math on the "stats" they show you, like the pie chart and the graphs and all that, and after all measured statistics were accounted for, there were a few hundered "phantom" votes that appeared to not come from actual users, that had pulled the rating down hella, and it was weird. And when I pointed that out to the other people who were also watching it, and broke down the math I'd done so they could see, one user was like 'thats what algorithmic scoring is like'. I don't know enough to know if that explanation was plausible, but it seemed plausible to me, because i couldn't think of any other way it was being downvoted by phantom votes unless there had been some kind of bot thing. But there is no way that it could have been just RL rando haters, because if it was, their votes would have shown up also in the stats.
It's just funny to me how no matter what country or genre the show, there's always people who suspect brigading to manipulate ratings, either by haters or superfans.
I think there's manipulation but idk if it's by actual organic users. Too bad MDL isn't more transparent about how they come up with ratings so we don't have to constantly have these debates.
I mean to me, there is no way in hell that My Demon was organically rated an 8.3, it's one of the crappiest shows i've ever seen. That's one of the shows I still cannot get over the rating, it has to be manipulated.

So if j-dramas and short length c-dramas start off as a 7, there's nothing wrong with that system, because you think j-dramas and short length c-dramas suck. But if a k-drama starts off as a 7, it's because of massive waves of mysterious downvoters. Because you like k-dramas so therefore they should start out higher rated than everything else. Got it.
Yo. Can you get beyond Victoria's acting? Should I start this drama now or not?I know her acting. I've watched…
I looked over your watchlist and altho ur tastes are wildly different from mine, based on what you like/don't like I have a few suggestions of ones you could try:
Fake it Till You Make it My Uncanny Destiny My Fated Boy Devilish Joy (a k-drama, but one i think might fit your tastes) Blossom A Dream of Splendor The Prisoner Of Beauty
Hope something in there might interest you enough to watch all the way through...
Whoooo is the secondary couple? I'm at episode 28 and I still cant see who is the second pairing that worth the…
yes. Lil sis and the crazy emperor. Youre at ep 28, so already the chemistry of the ML/FL has proved out to be like not the greatest, and the plot is just winding on and on, and soon lil sis's storyline is about to go off like a firework, brief, intense, and full of messed up crazy and awesome.
I have no words. The behavior is really weird and strange to me and I just don’t get it. I would never go on…
it goes both ways. people get belittled for liking a show, and they get belittled for disliking it.
MDL isn't a fan page. It's just a place to discuss dramas. I would never belittle a person for their opinion of a show. But if someone wants to 'talk trash' about it's rating (or to praise it's ratings), I don't see anything wrong with that. What's wrong with differences of opinion?
If this actually was a fan page, it'd be different. I would also think it would be rude to go to a dedicated fan page and talk trash or throw shade at a drama. But this is a site for reviews. So if I'm considering watching a show, I want to see people's honest feedback after watching it, good AND bad. So that I can objectively make up my mind about whether to watch it too.
There is something equally wrong with voicing an opinion that you didn't like a show, and getting attacked on a personal level for it just because youre in the minority.
To be fair, I liked this drama only medium. And I said what I liked and didn't like about it, and this LITC crowd is very nice. I was not attacked at all. People came in to argue with me, but that's fine, as long as the argument is about the show and not hurling insults at me personally then i think that's totally fair.
So while Im not the hugest fan of this show (altho i didn't hate it either), I like the vibe of the fans of this show. Like TTEOTM and SOKP and WDBTD, the MDL page isn't toxic like with some other dramas.
Here is whats my thoughts actually...Because of both actors. Dark night of the soul was better story, FL was nah…
i know sometimes in america, actors do crappy movies and musicians do crappy albums to fulfill contract requirements, and to me this feels like that. I honestly don't know what went on behind the scenes that led to the creation of this... whatever.... but it seems like somebody from like the direction/production/writer side just totally fell down. It's too cheesy to be taken seriously, and it's taking itself too seriously to be considered good cheese.
It was a dud. Which is really really surprising given this ML/FL team who could have given so much more if everything else had been on point.
Everything was overly formulaic. Not a lot stood out when compared to other good dramas of its genre. Plot follows a predictable pattern, even the OST was completely boilerplate. And I'll tell you something. People like Ling He and Kai Soso and Arthur Chen take a lot of crap for being woodplank actors, but Ming Hao is even less emotive than any of them. He missed his calling as a really really hot poker player. Because he won't act (emote), he forces the FL to play her part less subtle than she would have with a different ML.
I mean imagine Chen Kun in that role (ML from rise of the Phoenixes), he would have slayed it.
I do however, appreciate FL's dedication to her cat.
idk why people are complaining!!?? Aren't these short dramas always like this! They always lack in storyline and…
Because the bar of achievement is My Lethal Man and Embrace in the Dark Night. And this completely misses the bar by a lot.
Fang Jin just is coming hot off the heels of Sinful Marriage, which was a genuinely GOOD short-length in which she was given a more substantial FL role, and she nailed it, proving she can act better than just what EITDN would have you believe. And Yan ZiXian is well established as an actual GOOD actor, as evidenced by Love and Bid Farewell, Love Sickness, and My Uncanny Destiny. So we expected more from this onscreen pairing.
Then there's the cheese factor, and this show is a miss on that. Real cheese connoisseurs can tell the difference between a fine aged gouda and a can of aerosol cheese, and they know that a good aged gouda pairs well with white wine and grapes, whereas an aerosol cheese pairs well with Chicken In A Biscuit crackers and way way too much tequila.
What was I talking about.
Oh yes, complaining. I say, why not complain. What is this Oliver Twist, thank you sir can I have another spot of gruel? This was not good! It was not good, and it was not bad-good either. I don't fanservice dramas, I stake my reputation as a cantankerous bastard who doesn't like anything on my ratings! You might want people fawning and drooling over this weird pittance of a drama, but you won't hear it from me. Not everything in life has to be positive.
All of us complainers are just cheese-jedis talking to other cheese-jedis saying basically "this is not the droid you're looking for". And this is indeed NOT the droid we are looking for.
Did I mention I've just slammed an entire pot of coffee.

Blossom
A Dream of Splendor
The Prisoner Of Beauty

lolllllllll
yeah that's totally out of line, and doesn't make sense to me either. I often sense those kinds of comments have a 12-15 yo author. But really idk.
