They might have just announced a new series called 'Shine' in the works?! I'm not sure tho, there is an announcement on the official BOC channels and the translations from Thai say it's a new series but I never trust it 😂

I think in this case all of your questions are meant to be asked but not answered yet. The show has been feeding us information a little bit at a time for the whole of it, take for example the fact that Kyu wasn't assigned to Sun randomly and we have just found out. I think it's kind of the point to discover things as the characters discover them and also, sometimes it's better to make a guess yourself from what you're seeing rather than receive the answer directly from the show. From my experience of this director and his theatrical background, I believe personal interpretation is a hugely important part of watching this series.

I do understand that, I've been in fandom for more than a decade and the current rise in purity culture is disastrous so I know where you're coming from and what you mean. The thing is that until people start relearning that fiction and real life are two separate matters entirely, there's no solving this spreading mindset. In the meantime, though, the repetitive negative comments are just really f****** annoying. Pardon my French.

I keep seeing negative comments about this show 5 episodes in. Here's a suggestion: if you don't like it, just stop watching it. It's so so easy to not watch a show, just do that instead of harping on the same thing every single week. Find something you love, do that instead.

I think it's a bit early to tell but if I had to guess I'd say that Sun and Kyu are gonna end up together and Rain and Air will too but I don't know how much of each relationship we're going to see on screen. For now the situation is that Rain cheated on Sun with Air, and Kyu gave Rain a chance to get his relationship back through the power of magic! Who knows how the whole thing will end 😆

I'm very sad to see so many negative comments so early on in the show. I think this series will need a little time to establish itself and the world it's playing out in. I personally love the theatrical style of the production, yes including the acting and the script, I actually believe the over-the-top acting was done on purpose and that Sun is supposed to be unlikeable at this point in the story so that he will have the space to progress later on. Atom has great acting potential imo, something that's already obvious in the latter part of the episode, specifically in the balcony scene when he gets more serious and the script allows for more human autenticity. This is also a narration style that was present in 180DLPTU albeit in a less obvious way, the forced cheerfulness that masks deep tragic motives. I also love that some of the characters are less realistic people and more the classical concept of masks and archetypes because it specifically sets them apart from the actually characters "living" the story. I can already tell I'm going to enjoy this show a great deal and that it will probably become another underestimated story just because it doesn't immediately serve the meaning and conclusion on a silver platter and asks instead to stop and ponder for a moment. The trailers did not do it justice at all.

There is no "supposed to", just watch the story unfold and see how it makes you feel! 💖

Why did episode 9 last 30 seconds

Well put! I feel like a lot of people who have been criticising this version and putting the Thai one on a pedestal are doing it out of blind love and nostalgia tbh. I liked the Thai version a lot too, but it wasn't the masterpiece everyone is making it out to be and if you go and rewatch it now — only three years later — it has already started aging quite badly imo. It's cool to take both for what they were when they aired and to make note of the difference in audiences too (the Thai version would never work in Korea lbr) and as for the critiques about acting, I just don't get them. Overall, even though I like both, so far this version has impressed me a lot more in a lot of aspects but again, they are completely different pieces of media and obsessively comparing them is just missing the point.

I haven't laughed this hard in ages! I loved the Thai version and I love that this Korean version is mostly its own thing. IMO, even if it's only been three years, the Thai version is already dated and this one feels fresh. I love the dynamics and the chemistry so far, I laughed my way through most of both episodes and I've just been having the most entertaining time. Don't expect the old Why R U 'cause this is not that at all and should be given its own chance. I really do recommend it, I very rarely give pilot episodes an 8 but this one was just too good to be cautious. I just hope it sticks the landing because a lot of Korean shows I've watched lately really haven't. For now, big hopes and great start!
