im so glad you replied too, i love to see different perspectives of the same story
dan yi was just being very human, she tried the only way she could think of to get her fiance back. she could've done worse things, maybe even reveal to the world that he cheated on her which would greatly affect his career. maybe she did, maybe she did not post canon, but either way, both women were surprisingly too unresponsive to the cheating. taking the higher road is extremely difficult, especially when your long term boyfriend turned fiance whom you are expecting to marry and have a family with breaks up with you over the phone for someone he acted with. you really have to see her perspective to understand her emotions. i would be crashing out if I was her honestly.

i loved secret relationships and prosecutor's proposal even though both had depictions of intoxicated sa. it doesn't make it better but, secret relationships only had a kiss, and in prosecutor's proposal, he was aware of what had happened. zhen xin brushed it off when zhang zhun was clearly upset. i felt uncomfortable watching his nonchalantness and inability to understand the gravity of his actions. i don't think he apologized as well.

of course, I agree with you about portrayal of dark characters of human nature. But I wanted them to suffer in some sort of way when two women especially dan yi, who got zero closure from her literal fiance whom she was expecting to marry. If I'm being honest, I do like toxic characters but only when there are consequences.
being intoxicated always = no consent i think it's important to always portray such sensitive things in media properly because bl is mostly watched by women. dark romance and non con is very popularized, which may influence and normalise such toxic behaviours. i'm not saying people can't discriminate wrong and right, but when media portrays it in a light where we actually start rooting for the mains to do wrong, maybe it needs to be portrayed differently.
if it had a bitter ending I'd give it a 9/10 fs bc i got very immersed into their story, i loved the parallel story telling. it's a shame bc i just kept thinking about dan yi.
Hmm… this just made me dislike K-dramas even more. They tend to focus too much on infidelity and treat physical…
oh no that's mostly western series, this kdrama definitely took inspiration from those quick, low attention span, no plot, quick romance gratification story. actual kdramas are usually slow burn type, and the main leads usually end up being together either in the middle or towards the end of the drama.
Every time I rewatch, I wish for a different ending, even though the ending isn’t bad- just bittersweet You…
for some reason i keep hoping goyoung wouldn't let go of gyuho at the airport. plead, beg anything for him to stay. the only way i got rid of the heaviness in my heart was to read every single fanfiction in ao3.
