Even a Loser Can Fight
Viral Hit follows a high school student named Shimura Kota, who is constantly bullied at school while also dealing with the fact that his mother is hospitalized. Desperate to improve his situation, he ends up getting involved in online fight videos, which completely changes his life.
One of the strongest aspects of the series is the fight scenes. They are entertaining, well choreographed, and keep the story exciting. The action is probably the highlight of the show and makes each episode easy to watch.
However, I feel that the character development could have been much better. Many of the characters are interesting, but their backstories are not explored enough. In particular, I wanted to learn more about the pink-haired girl, who seemed important to the story but did not receive enough screen time or explanation. Expanding on the backgrounds and motivations of the supporting characters would have made the series more emotional and engaging.
Another issue is the length of the show. At only six episodes, the story feels rushed at times. I think the final episode could have been extended to around 75 minutes, allowing the writers to develop the characters further, answer more questions, and give certain storylines a more satisfying conclusion. There were several moments that felt like they needed more time to breathe.Overall, Viral Hit is a highly enjoyable series with exciting fight scenes, likable characters, and an interesting story about bullying, online fame, and personal growth. While I would have liked more character development and a longer final episode, the show kept me entertained from beginning to end. Even without reading the original webtoon, I had a great time watching it and would definitely recommend it to fans of action and coming-of-age dramas.
