Youku is not the only sponsor of dramas that they air, so it's not entirely their fault that quality of The Immortal Ascension was so low when it came to CGI and other special effects... Compared to The Immortal Ascension, Veil of Shadows has a way bigger number of star cast that are currently trending in China each having their own individual sponsors to back them up.
But I do hope Season 2 of The Immortal Ascension will be better 🙌

iQiyi has made a post on Weibo regarding April schedule and this drama is one of those which are set to air in April, so it is confirmed ❤️ I'm just wondering what Haiqiao's role here is as a support character and is he going to have a partner or will there be no romance plot for him? 🤔

Does anyone know what are the roles of Xu Haiqiao and Liu Xiening in this? Will they be second couple or the 2nd female and male leads competing with main leads? I'm not really in the mood of love triangles and I don't need these two as villains, please 😂😂😂

I kinda feel like both couples are going to lose one person... Either both female leads will be gone like in MJTY, or one female and one male lead... 🥲🥲

I edited the original comment right now after checking Baidu. She does not have Jiuying listed as her official character there, so I guess it's true that she could be just temporarily possessed at some point. Now that makes me worried about ending, because Eduard Guo is allergic to happy endings and I don't want JJY's character to have a sad ending... 😓

Ok, this is the synopsis from Baidu:

"The drama is adapted from the classic IP "Painted Skin". It revolves around Lu Wuyi, a nine-tailed fox from the mysterious organization Wuxiangyue. It tells the story of how she, Wu Shiguang, Wu Wangyan, Ji Ling and others compete for the Dragon God power of the great demon Xiao Wei. In the process of testing and cooperating, they gradually discover each other's ulterior motives and finally face a life-or-death choice in order to eliminate the leader of all demons, Jiuying ."

So, one of the names that JJY's character has listed here on MDL is Jiuying. Does that mean she is the leader of all demons? Or is it that the demon just looks like her and it will be two roles played by one character?

Omg, after reading this on Baidu I feel 100 times more excited than before. MDL synopsis is quite inaccurate overall. 😅😅😅

Edit: btw, Baidu doesn't state that one of JJY's characters is Jiuying, only the two others so I don't know where that came from...

Ok, I just got a reply from my friend on Weibo. The drama was supposed to have 27 episodes and be 40 minutes, but it shortened to 24 episodes and 20 minutes because the story has been cut and a lot of secondary and support character storylines have been deleted. So unless someone has watched the Korean version of this drama they will be confused about relationship between several characters. But I guess since this drama got to see the light of day, we should be happy anyway 🥲

I know for sure that it was supposed to be a regular full-length drama and the websites had it listed as a tv-drama, but now that I checked Baidu and other chinese sources, it's listed as a web-drama instead. Also, now that you mention that all episodes are available with express, it's also strange... I guess since 2018 a lot has happened that we will never understand 😅😅

The description says this was supposed to be a full size drama with 45 minutes per episode, but instead I see there are like 15-20 minutes... Was there an error or did they change something throughout the years? Like... maybe they cut short the episodes, increased their number and marketed as a 'short drama' to pass censorship and obtain distribution license?

I've already checked Weibo and they were indeed leaked apparently. I only found out today. Too bad for the channel and production team. I can not imagine the level of financial loss.....

But it is still finally released... and that gives me hope that some of other shelved dramas also have a chance 🥹🥹🥹

If the episodes are available for purchase with express package, then the pirate websites usually download all episodes from the package and upload them at once. Maybe that's how.

I am with you on that. He needs at least 1 full year of constant therapy away from Veir and everyone to sort his own thoughts and actions. Even if there's no time jump, since this is just a drama and not real life, I hope the remaining two eisodes at least give us a glimpse that Kelvin will work on the change... Otherwise I'm going to be disappointed.

I think the problem with Kelvin from the start is that he is mentally ill and by that episode with self harm we kind of get the idea that he needs mental help. It's not even about the redemption at this point, he needs to be cured first. I think the screenwriters are also trying to make us understand and forgive him that way, because mentally healthy Kelvin does deserve another chance to be a better person and partner.
At this point I just feel terribly sorry for him, because I started imagining what kind of childhood he had for him to develop so much unhealthy tendencies with everything from love to work.
