One thing is for sure, at least the Gong's make their Fortnight Flies poison a lot more visually palatable than Wufeng. It's a like a Michelin star restaurant vs. something from Kitchen Nightmares. That squishy caviar-looking soup gave me the ick.

I didn't mind it so much when they cut it if that was the only reason for it. Honestly, I'd feel aggrieved too if I was GSJ if that was used as a reason why he was given the SW position without experiencing the same trials as the others have. But now I do mind that they cut it because it logically explains how he's able to master the techniques so quickly. It prevents naysayers from saying he only learned it so fast because he has ML plot armor. Anyway, in my mind, I know that fact exists(if only in a bts clip and novel form), so I am good with what's shown on screen going forward.

This is all the more reason why they should've left the detail about him having a photographic memory in earlier. I assume seeing the demonstration and was able to memorize it also helped speed up his learning process in addition to the notes left by his father. It took child Master Xue 4 years to create and his assistant 7 years to learn. GZY already learned 2 of the 3 in just a few days.

For no.2, if you rewatch the trailer carefully with slowed speed, it wasn't YWS who attacked GZY, but the Wufeng lady from the pavilion. Looks like she will join the next bride selection ceremony. The way they cut the scenes made it look like YWS was the one who did it, but you can see she was helping him get away in another scene later.
Looks like we will move on to the next trial tomorrow, finally. I'm not impatient for anything else, but to see these trials is what I look forward to. Through them, we get more glimpses of the back hill people and they're so fascinating.
