are they trying to show that villains are to be pitied?... after what the evil princess suffered, Jang Li's drugging…
I was thinking the same thing!!! They keep showing us these ~tragic backstories~ but they lose their impact for me bc we have the FL, a shining example of how one should act in response to a tragic situation.
and about kisskh, tons of ads on the website, but preventable with an adblocker. haven't tried the app though. subtitles seem similar to youku. sorry, just realized you meant kisskh and not youku XD
i don't have any complaints about youku's ios app. i think i like it best out of the c-drama streaming services. youku website is also okay, but not my favorite.
Hows the attitude for ep 35? Many were disapponted coz of π― π π― between JL and XH.. how is the excitement…
I wasn't too disappointed about the kiss scene. a little kiss can't really compare to all the other amazing moments they have together, imo. I just want the express package soooooo bad ππ
My saying! You slayed it!Totally on you with this point, because the biggest issue is1. He doesn't realise he…
Right, he was new, but we've learned how much he values social status, so I don't think he would purposely ignore etiquette as someone with much lower social standing. So that's why I'm interpreting it as something "he must do" instead of it indicating a potential relationship between them.
I do agree that they probably had some more interactions in the palace, I'm just not convinced that it was an affair or that they were particularly close. Looking at XFF after that comment just seemed like pure panic to me. I also agree that someone who is guilty would probably have a similar response, but we also have to consider: SYR is likely terrified to offend Wanning. If he denied her, she would be upset. If he said yes, XFF would be upset. To him, staying silent was probably the only solution (which seems to be common with him...).
SYR is a notorious coward, so I personally think his reactions here align with how his character is presented. SYR is passive but he's not dumb, so even if there was no affair, I'm sure he was aware of Wanning's intentions. I'm of the opinion that SYR had genuine love for XFF (an example from that scene: his facial expression when he was leaving the palace before Wanning showed up), so introducing the person who is trying to ruin your marriage to your wife doesn't seem like a very good option.
I will add that I'm also very curious about how the relationship developed between Wanning & SYR. I'm leaning more towards "no affair" but I think both ideas are plausible. I really hope they give us some more on that, but there are more important loose ends they have to deal with in a short amount of episodes, so I really doubt it. π

Thanks for the analysis!! Though, I didn't quite view the flashback from episode 12 in the same way that you did. Wanning is a princess, in this kind of culture it's pretty much expected to show respect, so imo SYR was simply doing that because she appeared right in front of him. Her social status requires him to give her his attention. I more so felt that this scene was Wanning intentionally trying to provoke XFF by implying she & SYR had some sort of relationship. I think this is especially evident when the camera deliberately shows us Wanning's facial expression, she knew exactly what she was doing lol.
π The way SYR at the end of ep 34 was like whatever, go kill my family if you want when the entire time, he…
"it's just that i myself can't tell which words that are coming out of my mouth are true and which are false." i guess that explains why none of us can understand his actions bc he doesn't even understand himself ππ
