It's pure low budget genre to a purpose. This is so Hammer House I'm practically dying with laughter. Of course it's got a bit of Korean tropes as well.
Apparently "possession dramas" are a thing, so I'm very new to the genre. Having no preconceptions, I enjoyed this very much. It had a two birds with one stone kind of vibe. I'm more than happy to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the show. A lot of the acting was quite admirable. I thought the villains were particularly effective. It wasn't played for jump-out-of-your-seat horror effects, which was refreshing.
For me, this says almost as much about Korean society as Parasite. You almost feel sorry for the stupid bully at the end who doesn't recognize a cobra when it's staring him in the face.
Someone with what would normally be a legal issue going to social media instead makes them highly suspect. Also, defamation is a big thing in Thailand and she could wind up in jail.
Wow! That hit much harder than I was expecting. I don't react like that unless something is very well done. This was very well done. Everything fits in place at the end. As a long-time film reviewer, I'm very familiar with "bad acting". Anyone claiming the acting was bad doesn't know much. I have a problem with someone talking about this bad thing or that but can't provide any evidence. So yeah. It can appear disjointed at times, but that too is part of its charm. It's nice to not have everything revealed upfront. Relax. enjoy the show. Watch it get sorted out.
If someone is going to call the storyline weak, they need to define weak and then describe what is weak about it. I thought the storyline was very good. There were some surprises and no, it did not "speed up" at the end. Ayen's character mellowed, a bit and Akk did as well, each in their own way. Ayen is pushy by nature and he never disappoints. Akk is timid and tries too much to be pleasing. That's their nature. First and Khaotung did a great job of bringing the characters to life, making us believe in them, and delivering a great story. GMMTV has clearly expanded the amount of kissing allowed in a story since the days of Sotus.
