the FL is a general in name only. she is utterly unconvincing in the role. imagine a general who has all the mannerisms, personality and looks of a Disney princess. every fight scene with fails to seem believable, her attacks lack power and conviction in their performance. she is lovely, but not as a general. idk why they cast someone who cant convincingly so both sides of the character. IT CAN BE DONE: see Legend Of Shen Li. feminine and strong can and has been done. this girl is just feminine and the show is trying to insist she is strong and all the proof is tainted by the unconvincing performance.
THAT SAID, this series is trying to do something interesting and so im sticking with. love cheng lei.

i did watch 8 episodes and in those episodes there was a lot of good, and also some “preference red-flags” for me. the negative reviews unfortunately confirmed those aspects were present in the series as a whole. i dropped it cos it isnt for me, but it has its audience who loves it like you so win win.

thank you to all the negative reviews you just saved me 20+ hours. i put this drama on hold after the first 8 episodes disappointed me. it seemed weak but i couldn’t know for sure until i finished it (i thought), and now that final reviews are coming in it seems like the negative ones mention exactly my issues revealed by those episodes i had seen.

this is a stunning yet weak drama. it was my most anticipated one, and its hard to drop it but i need to.

i dont yet know exactly what you mean cos i just started ep1, but im legit just watching because i saw shots of the female lead in this role. im curious now, this comment intrigued me.

why is this so low rated? im just starting it.

omg, hua yong is getting too cruel omg this is so messed up im on the brink of not being able to root for them because the deception is too villainous.

finally a drama that has cast its leads very well! after Shadow Love and Love of the Devine Tree i was wondering if my standards were too high for “badass leader female leads” since both of those dramas have actresses who fell short of their roles slightly. but this FL proves you can have “gravitas” and be gentle if the actress is good enough!

update: ok im reallllly enjoying it now. i still think the actress lacks the range to provide gravitas to her Grandmaster Mu self, but as Ranran shes very good. I think it says alot that this story managed to win over someone like me, who was very underwhelmed after the first 3 eps.

finally enjoying it after 2 failed attempts. the FL is cool, but i maintain the actress falls short of the role. i think her casting made this character have no “gravitas”, or i should say not enough. the role is written to require a good amount of it and you can sense the lack even as most other things are very enjoyable.so im finally liking it, im even liking her, AND im glad i figured out why it didnt feel right for a long time.

i didnt mean romantic acts, but they do have “romanic” as in “budding feelings” moments. like with the umbrella. obviously its just for him and she barely notices which is good but i still struggle with it.

honestly just got to that part and its ridiculous. YOU DONT USE A BOW FOR CLOSE RANGE FIGHTING, omg so basic.

when will he stop being a kid at all? im at ep 2 and its a real struggle to watch a child have romanic scenes with the fl 🫠

im 7 episodes in and underwhelmed. its beautiful, expensive and well cast, but other than that i cant say much else. ill stick with it cos everyone here is so excited about it and much can improve in coming episodes!
