Not that bad! Watchable and light-hearted.
First of all, it is my very first review on MDL, so hopefully it will be of any help for you in deciding whether to start watching this drama or to better skip it. I have watched this drama twice - once with English subtitles and then again with voice-over in my heritage language. Honestly, FMPOV English subtitles seem not to be able to fully capture the essence of the conversations as well as the expressions and to apparently convey the exact emotions therefore the drama gave me the impression of being more captivating and interesting while watching it with voice-over in my heritage language - at least I was looking forward to new episodes.
For a low cost-intensive production it has a decent outcome with several shortcomings. This drama could easily be forgotten or even dropped, since it is very ordinary with an almost insignificant plotline (it could be intended because it feels like depicting an average slice-of-life rather than an intense storytelling). It is full of clichés and (un)expected happenings, nothing new or spectacular but it was still somehow relieving and refreshing because most of the time (forced/staged) misunderstandings were solved pretty quickly and straightforward (ex-lovers' attempts were disappointing uncreative and mediocre). The implicitly visible mutual attraction of the main couple could be conveyed to the viewer noticeably. The main couple is charming, attractive and eye-catching, has relatively good chemistry and was convincing as on-screen lovers. The second and third couple's storyline was not engaging at all, but rather immature and unnecessary therefore fastforwarding/skipping was heavily practised (without losing much of the drama's content). There is a huge imbalance regarding the screen time of the main leads and supporting roles. Attempts to address specific societal issues tend to appear one-dimensional, superficial or not well thought out. All in all it is still a watchable light-hearted drama without any major conflicts. Do not expect too much in terms of plotline depth and protagonists' growth.
Cast: although with non-famous actors/actresses still quite good
Acting: the performance of the main leads was appropriate to the circumstances and convincing enough to carry the show
Editing: uneven, sometimes rough
Music: opening and ending songs conveyed an undescribable fulminant vibe
Set design: average and forgettable
Costumes: contemporary casual-chic
Colour palette: unimposing conventional but pleasing
Despite its shortcomings, the drama still served its purpose of entertaining the audience to a certain extent by being able to interestingly illustrate the rather drama-typical "unrealistic" and somewhat overly "romanticised" encounter between two strangers with apparently contrary personalities in an urban setting. In general, the ending of the drama was a bit unsatisfactory despite its touching ending scene, but the extra side story makes up for it relatively satisfactorily.
Despite all the above mentioned "issues" I still enjoyed watching the drama, the main couple's tingling interactions and teasings - quite enchanting. Taking into account all the premises, the drama should be generally rated between 7 to 7.5 but I
am rating it slighly higher (8 out of 10) because I simply quite like the pairing of LXY&ZYX.
