Interesting, because actually the changes made in the Thai version of My Love Mix-Up and Cherry Magic are bringing them closer to the original material, AKA the mangas. But yes, Japan has that special magic that's hard to recreate for sure.

This was one of my first BLs and at that time I didn't know about secondary couples and all that, I was still oblivious to all the tell-tale signs, and I hadn't checked the summary. So when I tell you I was in SHOCK when Jack and Zhaozi's relationship went somewhere like I was already resigned it wouldn't... I never truly recovered.

Our concern regarding the "only gay for you" trope was raised based on the information available at that point…
There is literally nothing in ep 1-4 pointing to the “gay for you” trope. And no, characters don’t need to announce their sexuality from the summit of a rooftop because 1) labels are not mandatory, 2) knowing in details is not necessary to enjoy their romances, 3) show > tell.
If you want to get offended about tropes, there are tons of (mostly older) BLs for you to set ablaze. If you need the characters’ sexuality clearly spelled out for you, some BLs do that too and I suggest sticking to those.
I know the (very eloquent) comments above mine said it all already but, given the number of likes your comment got, I want to insist that not everyone agrees. I, for one, am refreshed by how this drama trusts me to understand and enjoy what’s going on without saying everything out loud.
Oof I hope for JoongDunk that the acting skills gap won’t be too noticeable. The premise reminds me of Jack and Joker (?), fun with a bit of action, I’m excited!

I quite like it so far. The acting is believable, there were a few moments I laughed out loud and for the first time in a KBL that has two couples I’m more into the main one! My only regret is Jinwoo’s haircut…
I just hope that Jihye really was Jinwoo’s ideal type and not just acting the part so that Jinwoo has the opportunity to discover that what he thought he wanted isn’t what he actually needs.
The reviews scared me a bit but it turned out to be quite decent! It's in my top 10 KBL's for sure (what that says about KBL quality is up to you). I think they did the best they could have done with the script and airtime they were given.
I would have just changed maybe two or three things: not having the same struggle for the 3 couples as it becomes a bit repetitive, Taeyi learning why his brother committed suicide after rejecting Seheon but before making up with him, so he can realise he's doing to him exactly what his brother died from (and we would also avoid the classic "I'm breaking up with you for your sake but I won't say why" moment from Seheon) and a less rushed ending!
But other than that, I've got nothing to complain about. By the way, are all members of OmegaX secretly good actors or??
