im confused with the last ep and have few questions

1. How long have been xu chang gone? i thought he left only for military training? why did he mention, he retired from it?
2. Did Shi Yuhao committed suicide or was it just they were remembering the past incident? if he did, why? and why that just that time when they have already resolved their problems?
