enemies-to-real lovers

a late review. i watch this when it was airing, without any planning and expectations. i only watched it bcos i want to watch ongoing kdrama, and how i was surprised, this is a very pleasant and satisfying and romantic watch.

i love melodrama romance, when it is done right. and this drama did it well. both sung kyung and young kwang acted very very well in their respective roles, and successfully relayed the feelings of their characters well.

this is a revenge drama, but turned into forgiveness. i love how the drama made the fl hated the ml at first, but since the ml are just sooooo kind and kind and kind, and caring and protective while still respecting boundaries, how wud anyone not fall in love with such character?

i also love how their relationship developed. from slowly trusting each other, protecting each other, slowly falling in love, the silent gaze, the apology, and the comfort that they bring to each other, and the fact that this relationship made both of them a better person. so loveeeeee

I'm bad at writing review, but i just want to give my appreciation to this drama. it's a meloromance done right. altho i was kinda hesitated or slow in finishing the last 4 eps bcos i hate to see the conflict unfolds but overall the whole drama is very pleasant to watch. i just love it.

thank you, call it love.

ps: pls don't mind my score for the music. i don't really pay attention to the music in the drama, but i just had to put a score. ok byeeeee

I love you (and your imperfections)

the perfect way to describe the main couple in this drama is "imperfectly perfect". Both of them obviously got their own issues, trauma, scars, and demon, but these r what eventually make them stronger and being able to explore themselves to be way better. it's a development type of characters and relationship and it is done in a probably realistic but for sure, entertainingly.

i also love other warm relationships in this drama such as akmu suhyun and Samantha, and the relationship with the women's association. they were very sincere but realistic, so i love it. I've said this before but i like how this drama portrayed these relationships involving these characters which were not perfect and angelic in any way. they were just normal people, with some nice characteristics, but still have their own flaws. like people.

but ofc, the main attraction of this drama is the main couple, and how i enjoyed their development. they are such good friends, and supporters with e/o. i love it.

also, both the leads were great in their respective roles, but i gotta give special mention to Jung woo's acting. HE IS SUCH A GOOD WONDERFUL FANTASTIC ACTOR. his every little emotions and reactions were serving, and he did a great job as the ml. love it. i just love his acting. so natural!

also, suhyun? yeah, babe your voice is daaa best!!

btw this is a slowburn, and while i enjoyed their developments, i def cannot finish this in one seating as it is not a drama where i can binge it. it's not a dramatic drama, so i really took my time to finish this, peacefully. also, a good eating companion!

ok that's it!

Turn off your brain

my first ever review.

what i like:
1. chemistry
2. the way the scenes were shot and how it shows on screen
3. some decent acting
4. the overflowing emotions
5. interesting makjang
6. not boring
7. imperfect characters. morally grey, morally red. red flag. green flag. Mysterious character (xia yuxin), annoying character (the mom).
8. the pace, the amount of eps, and duration of each eps

what i dislike:
1. some of the logic and reasoning (i just ignore it, bcos I don't treat this as an educational material, just a pure entertainment drama).
2. sometimes ekkkk acting

overall a 8.5/10. it's definitely not perfect in any way. so many questionable morals, but heck as a makjang and rom, it is entertaining. ok that's it :)

does your past defines you?

Witnessing hokuto's life crumble and getting his liiiitle hope of living life back is just crazy. So Hokuto only have 5 episodes, yet it manages to TELL in its 5 eps. The first ep was so impactful, sad, and depressing, as I feel SO pity to Hokuto. Then eps 2,3,4, were good, but a bit more on the slower side. However ep 5 is the perfect conclusion for the drama. I do wish though that there would be sequel or spin off to show the pov of other characs that are involved, bcos eps 5 is THAT POWERFUL, LIKE A PUNCH. it made me question, does past really help in shaping a person, can your past justify your current behavior, why people can't be kind sooner, how understanding can a person be, how could there exist 2 very polar opposite side such as kindness and evil? also, the lawyer believes that people can change.....but do you think so? like those that commit heinous crimes, do u think they can/will change? if they are all remorseful like hokuto then yeah, but do u think so? even after watching this i'm still not convinced bcos again, i don't believe that all humans are kind. no.

the performance from all the actors are very very very good and commendable. from the main characs until the teeny tiny minor characters, they all did such a wonderful job. I also like the detail of emotions, expressions, and the realism in the court scene, bcos heck..... it was intense.

i would recommend for people to watch this drama as it's just short, very realistic and brave in depicting life of an abused person, questions human nature, and just amazing performance.

for people like hokuto out there, i hope someday you'll find your own peace and strength, and I hope that you'll not blame yourself for it because u are not the problem.

a so-so makjang

i finished this in 2 days, i think that was pretty quick, but not to say that i did not struggle. but, thankfully it was only 8 eps. at first i watched the series at 1.5x but then on ep 4, i decided to watch this story at 2x. the major problems with this series is that it is slow. despite having only 8 eps, i still think it's slow, esp the romance between the main couple only started (or they started to have more scenes together) in ep 4, when there are only 8 eps.

the revenge plan/storyline ain't that interesting, also. at first, i was totally not threatened with the fl's plan, each time she stated her plan i was just "oh, ok?". and the main villain (eugene) might be the most watchable/interesting character bcos her plot and scheming seems better than other people. every character in this drama is driven by revenge (some are weaker), but everyone help each other bcos they only want revenge or money. so that's fun i guess, u can compare the intensity of their revenge. yeah...

the romance? hmmm idk. lacking i think. i watch this mainly for romance, but yeah, it wasn't that appealing (this applies to the main couple romance but also the side side fling).

well, since this is makjang, i won't really complain abt logic. i'm used to makjang not being really realistic/logical bcos yeah, makjang. but i don't hate it. this is one of the entertaining genre for me. so yeah, i welcome intense/hot/interesting makjang anytime. but this one is just so-so.

there are better makjang out there for sure, and i'm still looking for them too. as a netflix series, this is pretty skippable but if u want to watch for the cast (like me who watch it for lee hyun wook), it's pretty okay, i guess....

that's it!

ps: pls ignore my score abt the music. i don't really care abt the music. i just had to put a score.

makjang makjang makjang

whew! just finished this and it was a wild wild ride. I'll just review this drama simply.

what i like:
1. the story, the overall story. it was very very good. i was rarely bored.
2. the casts were all brilliant. i love go hyun jung acting a lot, but i enjoyed nana's portrayal as kim mi mo the most (if i get the name wrong, it's bcos I'm still confused with the daughter's name). nana's version of kim mi mo was when she was living her most fearless, brave, nothing to lose life. and nana also executed the acting, perfectly!
3. a lot of interesting side characters. morally grey at its finest, oh but we luvvvv.

what i dislike
1. I'm weird for this, but despite only having 7 eps, but i wish some eps were a bit quicker? sometimes i watch the watch bar (or how what do u call this), and feel like "ohh still long way to go". idk i think this is only me.
2. some illogical stuff but yeah as a makjang it's totally acceptable.
3. the fact that even till the very end, she (iykyk) never knew that her son is the dad of the child. arghhhh

yeah, i think that's it. totally watchable for only 7 eps and very interesting storyline and great acting even from the teen actors. also, rarely boring. recommended!

ps: pls ignore my score abt the music. i don't really care abt the music, I don't even remember it. i just had to put a score.

yeap, that's it.

was good, at first.

i watched 9/16 eps or 18/32 eps of this drama and decided to quit.

I'll divide this drama (the main couple relationship) to 3 phases:

1. attracted/flirting side while also denial stage
2. accepting the feelings stage and in the effort of trying to be together
3. together stage

i dropped this drama on the second stage. i feel like the desperation that i felt strongly from both of them in the first stage slowly started to disappear. but realistically, it should be. bcos at the the first stage, they were falling in love, but at the second stage, they need to face the reality. how to say it to the people related to them. so, while they are still fighting with each other (in a nice way) they also need to face other people which is realistic but i'm particularly not really entertained, or simply bored (being bored while watching drama has always been my biggest thing, but yeah, i feel it when i feel it).

as they need to face more and more people in the second stage, despite them being sweeter bcos at that stage they already confess to each other, but their scenes were lesser in quantity so i can't see them as frequent as i want to, and maybe just maybe their scenes will be more in the 3rd stage but i can't wait that long. after the very entertaining eps 1-4 where i sacrificed my sleep just to watch them flirt and denying their feelings, ep 5&6 were fine, but ep 7&8? kinda snoozefest. i kept looking at the watch bar (or how do u call this), and thought "y is this so long?", which i've never felt before while watching this drama. after that i continue to watch until ep 9, but after that, i just realized i feel extremely sluggish to continue ep 10. that was when i knew, i had to drop this bcos i don't want to force myself anymore.

a person questioned me for my decision since i gave this drama 6.5/10 for a dropped title (maybe he/she considers it as a decent score), but i think this drama really deserves that score despite me being unable to finish it. i hate nothing about this drama, except the pacing after ep 6. i think the storyline is decent, the social issues brought up was eye-opening, and the chemistry? undeniable. my only problem was that i was bored, and sometimes annoyed with some of the characters, but that's it. is it STILL watchable? YES.

i think that's it. definitely not a bad, dumb, insulting audience intelligence type of drama, and also not a cliche drama. might be not for me, but i won't not recommend this to people, bcos maybe, others will enjoy it.

that's it!!!

ps: jung hae in is so handsomeeeee!!!!!!!

eating companion

Imagine this drama like a calm peaceful water. nothing really happens. which is good. nothing can provoke u, but also, nothing to entertain u.

I don't hate anything abt the drama, be it the villains (altho they can be annoying at times), or anything else. i was just fine with it, at the end of the day, they did not really matter. that's it. i was simply not interested.

Not to say that the story is bad, but like the headline, i can only watch this while eating, and even if i watch it while not eating, i need to play it with 1.75× speed bcos nothing really interesting happened.

Happened to be, I'm on my holiday rn, so i got a lot of time on my hands. I'm not particularly stressed so I don't need anything light, i need drama. yeah. this drama, there are not much drama (please understand what I'm saying), it was very laid-back and chill. so yeah, nothing. just nothing. So i dropped it.

Don't let my review stop you from watching, tho. this drama was actually quite decent and realistic. about their characters, about situations in their jobs. since it's not annoying or bad at all, who knows i might pick it up again, in the future. ok, that's it!

ps: btw pls disregard my score abt the music. i take no note at all abt the music in this drama so i don't even realize if it's bad or good. i just had to score them or else, yeah u know.
