You do not need to defend the novel. If you do not like it that is fine and your opinion. I for one read it and did find it very interesting on all front. It was well written and the plot was great.
The characters were well described and well developed.

Zhixing destroyed his family himself. He wanted revenge for his mother he got it. He was alright when ZH told him he would be made heir and his brother would fall and so his mother. ZX was fine with that. He never expected his step mother to not take everything lying down and destroy the family. He is a piss of shit to actually blame ZH for it ZH is just feeling guilty so of course blame on himself.

ZX was supposed to keep his end of the deal and give the name of the 3rd person no? if so them he is an ass and I hope he get killed.
