So, I was really annoyed for the middle part of the drama. Yet, I have to say that the ending improved a lot again. The ML and FL had finally more screen time together, so also the chemistry changed.
The scriptwriters essentially handed every single showcase of true power to the male lead. In the original novel,…
You really put the finger on an important issue: how the novels are adapted. As I usually only have the drama to rely on for the story, so I miss out on much what's going on in the novel and the subtext and other themes/issues that get dropped for drama adaptations.
They just don't have much screentime but you cannot say they don't have chemistry because in initial episodes…
You are right. In "Veil of Shadows" she worked well together with TJR. Thinking back, VoS might've been her best work as an actress so far. I actually had to go back and check the drama I initially meant - it was "In Blossom".
I can't express how absolutely annoyed I am with the FL's character. No matter how much the ML bends backwards, jumps through hoops for her... she's always assuming the worst, doubting him. The chemistry between FL and ML... where is it? (I've watched other dramas of both actors, and while SWL usually develops great chemistry with his FLs, this time... well... and in some other drama JJY had the same issue with her MLs IMHO. She's really pretty but....) Honestly, at this point, I just watch for SWL and skip forward a lot. Thankfully, there's another SWL drama out at the moment, so I can get my fix there.
This drama has one of the most beautiful cinematography in recent dramaland. Absolutely stunning. To the Wonder is similar in its beauty and wonderful visual storytelling.
Watched the ending and I feel.... a bit betrayed. The ending was so sudden. I am/was so invested in their love story that I definitely wanted to see some happy family marriage time after all this political chaos. Is there a special episode? Does anyone of you know about it?
Honestly, I'm so in love with this drama. I re-watch every episode and my feed is all about the BTS of the drama. I wish I could binge all the episodes at once!
It's an absolute masterpiece! From acting to cinematography, storyline... what a stunning drama. Gripping from start to finish! And Cheng Yi... new stellar heights in his career.
