Actually the breakup of Ae and Pete does take place in the novel. Ae was devastated by this and behaves exactly how we saw in the series. The reason behind their breakup is devastating. But in short, its caused mainly by Pete's biological father.
It"s clear that all three of them will have a sad ending. Tai looked happy when he made the choice to Study in his own will, But he must broken up with his girl friend at that time itself. Now he is in a dilemma over the three girls. Gun looked happy when he made the choice to move to Taiwan with Aye But now he is split between the music group and Aye. Moreover Aye has a boy friend. This will change things Dramatically Pat seemed happy with the choice he made by lying to Tisha and to be with her. But now he is stressed up about covering information related to Tisha and Gap. Moreover in ep 5 we see that Gap has learnt that she is dating Pat. This may cause problems for Pat.
Overall all three of them experienced first what will happen if they go by what their mind says. Since that did not give them happiness. They've been given a second chance to go by choices that their heart wants them to have. But that turns to be even more dangerous and more unhappy. We have to wait to see if there are any twists and all three will have a happy ending or not.
