Unpopular opinion: I couldn't make it past the first 2 eps. The FLs acting was....non existent. I don't know much about the cast so I don't know if she is a popular idol/actor in China but she really needs a lot of training and acting classes. I have never seen someone 'act' with such a stiff face that show zero emotions. She was the sole reason I couldn't continue with the drama. I had the same issue with Love O2O.
But I see the drama bought a lot of joy to a lot of viewers so I assume everyone else was fine with it.
Wow what a ride! Don't hesitate- just click play and watch it till the end.
This drama is a slow burn, so go in knowing the first half is a little slower, takes time to build up and you may even question if the leads will have any chemistry. But that all is part of the charm of this drama. The leads have an inexplicable chemistry once together and it just feels like they have always belonged/been together. It's not just sizzling but also a lasting kind of love.
Also I believe this is the first drama that I have watched with such a unique set up as space exploration and showing the difficulties of it. Most dramas these days are about idol life/gaming (which this drama has in the first half and I honestly didn't care for those scenes), but this one really makes you realise everyone involved in space exploration is really achieving something larger than any of us, larger than life. I really felt Yu Tu's struggle and anxiety with his work and how important it was. It is beyond just one country investing in technology, its humanity as whole being able to understand life outside of our planet (although admittedly in the drama it was a little a bit much of China!! RARA!! and I'm never a big fan of patriotism).
In terms of cast, everyone was great, no evil characters. Yang Yang's acting was admittedly stiff in the beginning and he couldn't quite portray the complex emotions his character is going through, but he really finds his groove at some point and then its great. Also WOW he is good looking in this drama. I dropped Love O2O cause I found it terrible but he is so good in this! I felt Dilraba's character could have been a little more complex, but overall she was great too. My biggest complaint was, I wish they had more deep and meaningful conversations during their gaming sessions, (the script was a little superficial to start with) it felt like a missed opportunity from the writer.
The OST was great, the production and effects were great too. The last few episodes were fun and the actors were so natural at that point you don't even feel like you are watching people act on screen anymore. It's just a wonderful watch and completely deserving of the praise it is getting!
This drama is an interesting watch but should probably not be binged as fast as I did because I did FF through…
I didn't like however that Dr Keanu was able to forgive JH. He destroyed his career, but more importantly his family. I get why they wrote it that way, so that the doctor would heal himself through treating JH, but it was pretty unrealistic. I feel like too much was tied up with a happy little red bow and they could have done something a little deeper than that.
This drama is an interesting watch but should probably not be binged as fast as I did because I did FF through a lot of the second half filler scenes. The drama takes a deeper look into the 2 leads and how toxic their love becomes for the main leads. The star of this show is really Ji Hoon's character and his scenes were really well acted, from disturbing to pathetic. His scenes had a lot of charisma on screen and chemistry with the FL whereas I found the ML & FL's relationship to be a little stiff and superficial.
I also found the comedic parts to be fairly well written and acted, and love the relationship between the FL and her boss. It was good to see such a positive relationship between female boss and female team member (also their out of office friendship). The ML was also really supportive and gentle, not the typical toxic dramaland ML which is the point of the drama, to contrast him against the ex.
I do feel like however the drama failed to go as deep and as dark as it could have with the story. It feels like everyone was too afraid to make it more realistic and so (as someone commented below), it's not as deep as it thinks it is. The conversations between the mains were too superficial, only really talked about their past loves and didn't really touch any deeper topics about life and the world which you can also discuss with 'strangers'.
Overall this is still a good drama to watch, and unlike most of the comments I did think the main leads had plenty of screen time together, they just didn't have chemistry as strong as the 2ML and FL.
Dropped at ep 12. Too cliched and as FL's character was too childish, even the way they styled her was like a kid. Everyone in the office is wearing office wear and her clothes are like the big size version of toddler wear. Also why did they giver her that hairstyle???? I couldn't take it seriously anymore. I know Amy Sun can do better! She acted so well in a similar role in Accidentally in Love but this was a character she can't save. These C-drama writers need to stop infantilising grown women and making them feel so pointless to the story.
Also I couldn't understand why the leads fall for each other- like I get he is her idol, but...she really doesn't know him much and vice versa. It was all awkward. Not worth the time I already wasted on this.
I am little bit dispointed with the final editing of drama. Even though drama had wonderful cast, beautiful storyline…
It didn't fit in some parts but it didn't bother me much in the first half but I think towards the end the editing team/director definitely seems to have gotten lazy. The editing was terrible in the last few episodes, I was confused as to what I was watching, and why the flow was so messy. Such a shame cause it just messed up a good drama.
Really good drama for those who like obsessive love kinda stories. There's a lot of romance, and for most of the drama the focus is mostly on the main couple. There aren't too many boring filler scenes which is great for 24 eps. The chemistry between the leads is off the charts! But go in knowing these kind of obsessive loves are unhealthy in real life and need a lot of counseling to work!
The ML isn't always a sweetheart, has serious anger issues that are portrayed negatively (rightly so) but the actor managed to portray that as just one facet of his personality. Although something that is still unhealthy (and shown to be that), at least he wasn't this cold CEO type throughout. He had real reason to be traumatized and thus angry with the world (not just cause he was arrogant). He had more scenes of him being soft and sweet than angry and it made the character feel more authentic. There are more sweet moments and fluffy scenes which show why the FL would fall for him. TBH I actually took longer to like the FL character as she came across quite shallow and uncaring in the beginning (except for her crush on the ML), however once she grows on you, you are on her side rooting for her all the way.
I didn't care for the 2CP, I basically skipped all their scenes. I liked the FL's roommate she was really supportive and great. The scenes with the FLs dad made me cry and was really touching.
It was well written, really well acted and shot, had a great OST, great chemistry (even if the kiss scenes were a little stiff), but the editing was really off a few times throughout the drama. It's like they cut scenes and pasted them without thinking of the flow. And I'm not sure if the drama was cut short but the last 3 episodes were a bit of a mess which made me drop my rating. It's a shame because it was pretty consistent till then.
For those wondering if they should watch, YES. This a good drama and gives you a million butterflies.
Really adorable contract marriage drama (one of the tropes I always fall for!). It's hard to get cliches right but this drama does it well. The FL wasn't annoying at all and was super cute and lovely to watch, the ML was quirky but not cold and distant. But the best part of this series is the little kid!!! Omg he is so adorableeeeeee. I wanted to give him a big hug everytime he was on screen, what an adorable child! Hope he grows up safe and healthy.
Overall super cute watch with a good amount of romance and story so you won't lose brain cells watching this. The last two episodes were a little fast paced but I didn't mind cause those issues have been done in dramas before and I didn't care to watch it be rehashed. There's nothing new in the plot but the cast and crew did a great job making this unique and fun to watch anyway!
Xi Song is the ML in the screenwriter's previous drama, the leads were watching in some episode i can't remember…
Ohhh, yeah they kept mentioning the drama but I wasn't sure about the connection. Lol didn't they make fun of the writer in this drama too? XD I did think maybe the writers would be the same! hahha! Thanks for clarifying.
Such a refreshing romcom cdrama. Although it's a Noona romance (to borrow a term from kdramas) and there is nothing new about the plot, the script and cast really shine throughout the series. I absolutely related to the FL at the start as she felt like at 30 something she didn't have much to her life. The inner monologue of the FL at times had me wondering, girrlll are you me? It was clearly written by someone who has experience of what its like to be a 30 something OL. The romance was sweet and fluffy, the ML did a great job in his role as the one completely in love with the FL. But the best part about the series was the female friendship and how much the three girls loved and helped each other. I teared up more than once at their interactions (even with the FL and the 2 moms scene).
One other thing this drama did right was the pacing. At 29 episodes with only 35 mins each there was no time to drag the story or add unnecessary breakups/subplots. The plot is simple and doesn't drag and the OST was really good too.
If you are wondering whether to watch it or not, this is one of the better romcoms of the year in cdramas.
A slow burn drama that takes its time with the characters and story, in a good way. It is sweet and calm without too many heart-aching moments (or third parties really). It's a good watch for when you want something slower paced. I really enjoyed the female friendship and the brother/sister relationship. Even the FL's parents were really cute and I enjoyed their scenes probably the most.
However the last 7-8 episodes really drag and were so boring till we get to the final 2 episodes. I really wasn't interested in the corporate drama or Da Chuan's love story (although I liked his character as a friend). It's enough having two couples that you follow through out the story, I really think by adding a third they made the drama unnecessarily long. I was FFwding through both these subplots. Could have been better if it was a little shorter.
But I see the drama bought a lot of joy to a lot of viewers so I assume everyone else was fine with it.
