I thought maybe he staged it but they betrayed him by actually trying to kill him instead of making it look that way?

Who is the Lady Rong that had 3 husbands? Was it Shanbao? Or the grandmother?

I can't think of a more traumatic and tragic ending. No silver lining no matter what they think.

I feel their fate was star crossed. Their fate was always doomed. The sad part is because he sacrificed himself saying he would be neither living or dead he can never reincarnate. I hope he did not spend eternity conscious of being sealed in the mirror at least in the coffin he was just sleeping and unaware of the 5,000 years. They can never be together again even if she reincarnates. so he truly is dead. Also going back in the time array will not bring him back. If she could go back in time and change their fates it would be worth it. Otherwise she can only go through memories. That seems dangerous to mess with timelines. I honestly can't think of a more tragic and traumatic ending with zero hope for a silver lining. Even the three great demons died or even one of them was left to watch over her. I thought Sword and Fairy 4 had a bad ending but at least he waited 100 years for her blind and when he died she took his soul with her to their spirit world. so they ended up together in the the afterlife. They could not do that with this show because Hong Ye will never live ,die or reincarnate. so he could not even wait for her in the afterlife. .Same with Legend of Zu 2 I thought that was traumatic he lived in a stone waiting for her for 60 years to reunite with her in the future at same age because of a stone that controlled time. It was brilliant how they did it. So you knew they would end up together, But the mirror would never release him even after many years. I could name other examples. But this show has to be the saddest ending of all sad endings I have seen. in C dramas. She literally was left alone. Demon Valley people would not sate that loneliness. I wish she would have at least been carrying his child. She would neither be happy in the human nire demin realms. Never really belonging or wanting love from other men. No way would she be with another guy

That part I understood. What i did not understand is how he could die when she stabbed him? He is immortal.She went up in the sky and disappeared but it did not show her dying. So no one knows how long she lived after? We do know because she was born from humans she was reincarnated.

How could she kill Hong Ye so easily when he was now immortal? Also how did she die in the first life? They only showed her flying up to the sky? I was thinking she would be struck by lightning or something in punishment. Are we to assume she killed herself? She went through reincarnation? But he did not?

Then how was he killed three times after drinking from Yuli Spring? Can only immortals kill immortals?

I am afraid they will kill Hong Ye and then separate them 100 years to come back to a family and have no memory of them or they reincarnate again and meet in another life😭 Please give us a happy ending!
