I don't think the argument is whether it is a norm or not. the issue is the mom's behaviors are clearly toxic and horrible. it should be a point of reflection for viewers to call out if a behavior is right or wrong.

he's partly to be blamed though. he's a guy with no sense of responsibility, neither for his work nor his love. he doesn't work hard and doesn't care to strive for financial independence (his family is wealthy, he's a bum). he does not support or has chenghuan's back when she is in a tough spot. time and time again he cowers and hides from speaking up when chenghuan faces difficulties, whether with his family or with the info leak incident. he only apologizes when it's too late. 3 year relationship and that has been the pattern all along.

he was sent from headquarters to be the new manager to improve/expand this particular hotel that MCH works at. the business schemes/his plans are a little confusing right now as he has a hit list of business that have links to the hotel but I'm not sure if it's to negotiate better contracts with them or drive them out of business and take them over in order to smooth out the supply chain for the hotel to be all in house.

the basis for firing was the fk up with the cake. she took responsibility for the fk up so that was grounds for firing.

it's two different thing. one is defending yourself when you're being harmed (she should've cleared herself from the cake thing by telling the truth but refused to.. which was dumb) and the other is doing underhanded things to harm people.
