Ahh ok it started when she was 14 she had her coming of age at 15 then things happened so it advanced 3 years (there was no 3 years later info) it well done in various comments in the show, but yes he is older than her by a few years but that was the way it was then in their culture, girls were (so to speak) pretty much put on the market once they came of age especially in the richer families trying to make a good match for connections, and it didn't just in china in those days.

I forgot to mention that the fl in Splendid Match uses her natural smarts to get her revenge so to speak with words and planning, where as Zhao Lusi in LLTG used planning and action so similar but not if that makes sense.
