Honestly with Ra-young I get where she comes from but I found her to be too emotional and illogical at times.

Well, when I started watching this drama I thought it would be worthy of a 8-9 rating cause I love dramas focused…
Expecting each character to be reduced to a trope is one of the tragic effects of consuming mindless modern media and outrage culture. The characters are flawed. None of them are good people, some of them are worse than others, some are better. Some revel in their evil nature while others resist it and try to be better in some ways. That's how people are in real life, complex, grey, not black and white.

It's true that Hyun-jin cheated, and it was terrible of her to do so. However, in the face of the larger evils in the show, in front of men who literally exploit vulnerable young girls and boys, ruining their lives, driving them to su*cide, causing them trauma and stamping a stigma on their heads which doesn't shake off easily, doing the worst crimes and not even feeling guilt for it, her crime, like it or not, isn't as serious. There are grades of punishment even in law, you don't sentence someone to death for pickpocketing. Similarly, there are different levels of crimes. And the fact that people here seem to be getting more outraged over adultery as opposed to sexual exploitation which, to any logical mind, is a much worse crime shows how our mentality and conceptions of right and wrong have deteriorated.

shinjae still visits and talks to her mum despite all that she's done??? wtf ur mum covered up for criminals how…
She got her punishment for her crimes, and she was the one who ensured that happened. KSJ is someone who operates pragmatically and isn't easily swayed by emotions unlike the other two, that's the point of her character. Her mother may prove to be useful later and given she's taken over Haeil, even more so.

She went back to his home to collect evidence related to the case, which, as they later found, was very important evidence that could make or break their case. She didn't go back to sleep with him

Couldn't have put it better. It just shows how misogynist the audience here is. The show doesn't even glorify the cheating. Somehow the entire point of the drama is lost just because of that one plot point, and honestly it just proves the drama's message

Title Descendants of the Sun Spoiler
Started off great and went off the rails after the characters came back to Korea. So many things stopped making sense, first nothing was happening and then suddenly everything was going on. The whole North Korean soldier's storyline made no sense. Why would he come to SK to ask for help against corruption in his country, and why would they help him? I couldn't even understand what was going on, how they helped him. Plus the male characters died and came back alive in the same episode lol.

It had great potential. The beginning was brilliant, exploring ethical questions and humanitarianism in the face of disaster, both from the perspective of militarymen and doctors. There were still flaws, such as a caricaturist villain and borderline stereotypical portrayals of foreigners, but it was still good to watch. The romances between the two couples, especially the second leads, was sweet and beautiful, and the complications were genuine. But the last few episodes just go haywire and the ending seemed to come out of nowhere.

I feel it would have worked better with a sad ending. The whole North Korean plot should have been done away with, and Yoo Si-jin and Seo Dae-young should have died heroically in action. The scenes of the FLs mourning them are actually some of the most emotional, impactful scenes in the drama, only to be wasted. The show should have ended with Mo-yeon going to Africa to work as a doctor and living on with the memory of Si-jin.

The characters are decent. Si-jin is of course charismatic and convincing as a great soldier who listens to his heart, keeping SJK's stuff aside. Mo-yeon can be a little irritating at times and I wish the show had explored her dilemmas as a doctor more, but SHK is damn good and overall she is a pretty good character, funny and enjoyable to watch. The second leads are just too good, loved Myeong-joo, she's just so cool.

Overall, I think it's still entertaining enough for a mindless watch without expecting much.

Literally the only thing I was asking near the end was for Ae-shin and Eugene to have a happy ending and the writers even gave us hope before cruelly ripping it away.

That ending... it took days to recover from that. One of the most devastating ones I have ever seen.

Go Ae-shin is one of my favorite kdrama FLs. Her drive, her passion, especially in the last few episodes elevates her to legendary status. It was totally believable that so many men and women were willing to die for her, even I would be in their place. Her commitment to the cause in her life was truly admirable and inspiring. I just wish we got to see her more in action

Exactly lol. Why do ppl think everyone has to measure themselves in comparison to others. She's considered one of the best actresses in Korean cinema/drama, I don't think she's bothered

what's wrong with it being lesbian?
Then why did you watch the film lol, the poster and the tags show it's an LGBT film, if that triggers your skydaddy beliefs why watch it in the first place. If you haven't watched it, then how are you calling it shit

I love this! It was so satisfying to watch and I LOVE THE ENDING SM! (And to the people who are calling it a p*rn…
Ppl these days can't appreciate good cinema. Part of the reason why cinema is falling apart is because of such ppl who themselves watch things they can't tolerate and then cry about it as if the filmmakers have done a personal offence to them, as if the actors came to their houses and made them watch the film.

The ending is so good. It's anyways rare in Korean media to find happy endings for GLs

Lol at the prudes clutching their pearls here. It's literally advertised as an 18+ psychological EROTIC thriller, and the poster provides a pretty clear indication of that too. If you can't tolerate it, just don't watch it. Why watch it and then cry about it. Your inability to handle adult stuff doesn't mean filmmakers and actors have to start bending to your tantrums. Go and watch Cocomelon

Wonderful movie with brilliant acting by everyone. Love Hideko and Sook-hee, one of the best GL couples, I love these two sooo much. The cinematography and shots are beautiful and the chemistry between the girls is just fire
