This type of drama is really for their domestic audience who will more or less know the backdrop of each timeline…
I know that it's more attractive for the domestic audience. I am grateful for the english subs. But in the same way as the 2nd arc was criticizing (albeit somewhat lovingly) political zealots, in terms of the historical background, the 3rd arc wanted to show that when the markets opened up, people could go overboard with chasing money and success. I saw it as (mild) criticism materialism and definitely strict criticism of corruption and bribery. As people don't change fundamentally, it was not right in my view for the 3rd couple to end up together.
I was going to drop the rating bc of my dissatisfaction with the 3rd story arc. For a while it looked like their values were too different and that they would not end up together. Now *that* would have been brilliant. Since the first 2 stories showed people who ended up together exactly bc of their shared values and ideals. I was disappointed when they did end up together, and felt that the message of the 3rd story got lost. (FL and ML's friend Yan Jun as businesspeople were driven and purely about money and not always within the law in their dealings).
I didn't drop the rating after all, bc the way history was portrayed through the lives of these 3 women was finely crafted. Especially the 2nd story with the zealous political activists was enjoyable. I think this requires quite a lot of historical background knowledge to be fully appreciated. 8/10
Loved the stylishness and the flow. To me this was pretty flawless.
Although my concentration waned a bit though as the last episodes were released only 1 per day. Wish I had had access to episodes 14-16 in one day but that was for iQYI premium subscribers only.
Giving humans a gene therapy product without before the ending of rigorous animal testing sounded strangely familiar (lol)
It was a surprise to me that the supervisor who did this wasn't the Squid. But so we had 2 antagonists who both were overly ambitious with coming up with a sellable product. Who gets to sell it was the main reason for the supervisor to fight. The antagonist also wanted the data in order to be able to save his gf. In the end their fight was about the data.
I hope for a S2 that goes deeper into the moral dilemmas with gene therapy. Now it was more or less accepted that gene therapy could provide a cure for all cancers (but I know that in reality this has been promised and tried for 30+ years without anything even remotely successful coming out of it). But anyways, the science part in the science fiction wasn't missing. Very satisfied with the drama and how it touched upon the issues with genetic research - although as said, it could have gone even deeper into that. Hoping for Season 2.
This is so good and entertaining. Adventure dramas are rare treats these days. Scary and funny just as it should…
Cao Lei is deservedly in high demand. He was unforgettable in The Lost National Treasure (I highly recommend it, most people missed out on it, super interesting and engaging)
I'm enjoying this a lot. This is sci fi that doesn't miss the science part (gene therapy).Ep 9: I think CEO Mo's…
in ep 9, Ding Qi has narrowed down the suspects into Squid and 2 people who are his helpers. I think it's pretty clear Squid has to come from the genetic science research world, hence is the missing former supervisor.
This is sci fi that doesn't miss the science part (gene therapy).
Ep 9: I think CEO Mo's supervisor was justifiably angry at him. Not jealousy. Did he submit a paper without the professor's name in it? And without his approval?
I hope we'll really get deeper in future episodes into what CEO Mo was pursuing that made the supervisor angry. And I think we're heading into that direction.
A pretty important role. I tried adding. Let's see if they accept: source https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/873797. If I fail, you also can try by giving this source.
a nice watch, fluffy. But just that, not ambitious in the least. More like a TV production than a movie theatre film. I don't see why people would actually pay to see this. Ahn Bo Hyun's acting is absolutely delightful though, flawless. 7.0/10
A very touching and emotional youth and family drama. The first 6 episodes are heartbreaking and sad, but in a good way. We see the reasons for the younger brother's depression and anxiety very well. I was moved to tears, which is rare. I found the drama quite a realistic portrayal of a dysfunctional family.
The older brother, violently ousted from the family, is not a knight in a shining armor, but comes to the support of his brother, just because he's needed. The "way home" in the title means that he slowly admits to himself how lonely he has been and that he actually longs to return to the family. But this happens by his own terms. The brothers first have to break free from the suffocating family environment before they can bring the whole family back to its tracks.
The father figure in this drama is the kind that I constantly wanted to hit him in the head with a baseball bat. But unreasonable people like that do exist in real life. The mother was just a little less frustrating. The kind of a meak person that do exist in real life.
I found this from Youku by browsing the family dramas category. Somewhat crazy that people think the relationship between two brothers should be BL. Nothing in the drama even remotely gives that kind of ideas. Although the brothers are not related by blood, they grew up as brothers in the same family and didn't even know the older brother's dad (younger brother's uncle) wasn't his real dad. This is not "bromance" either since it's all in the family.
The writing takes a small dive towards the end. It's good that it's this short. I didn't particularly like the meddling gossipy villager characters. But the drama wanted to portray how a dysfunctional village community can come together and build better relationships.
All in all, a very heartwarming drama which I give 8.5.
Watched the first 5 eps. This is entertaining to the max. Enjoying the stylishness of the production. Ricky Chan's…
I wonder how ML managed to convince his cop colleague that the loop thing is real. Or why the other cops take his orders without protesting. But plot holes are inevitable in time loop dramas.
